Son is planning a trip to Japan but is finding it hard to find someone to accompany him (expensive).  He hay have a cousin join him?  Is there a draw back to booking the room as double occupancy vrs solo and then just have his cousin now show if he cant make it?

He should book as a single- Princess occasionally has some single supplements that are less that double occupancy costs depending on the voyage.  Plus with single occupancy he will only pay one set of taxes, fees and port expenses. And since insurance is based on cost of fare, it will be less if booked as a single.

If he finds someone who wants to sail with him it’s easy to add the second person to the booking.
