Looking for Hotel & transportation info Port of Long Beach

Sailing in April on the Miracle out of Long Beach and will be flying into LAX the day before.  Looking for an inexpensive hotel for the night before as well as transportation to the port.  Not looking to break the bank but would like to find something close to food and shopping.  Not having any luck with finding much info.  If anyone can assist me I would greatly appreciate it.

Can you put a dollar amount to "inexpensive"? Inexpensive in Sergeant Bluff, IA isn't the same as inexpensive in LA.
