Unrequested upgrade

I understand how frustrating it is to receive an "upgrade" that is not an upgrade in the passenger's view.

My husband and I prefer a midship inside cabin on a low deck and that is what we always book if available.

Unfortunately, we have received "upgrades" over the years to balcony cabins. For many reasons, we do not like a balcony cabin and consider the balcony to be a waste of space that would be of more use inside the cabin.

We now have our reservations marked for any cruise line as "no upgrades."

It has worked fairly well  accept for Celebrity where are last two cruises we were moved and only found out at the pier when checking in.

One we bit the bullet and went with the flow, the second  time we flatly refused the cabin that was assigned as it in no way matched the location or size of the original cabin.  Guest relations did move us to an acceptable cabin.
