Another silly question - knives on board

I had a keepsake combination knife, 1/34”, nail file, scissors confiscated by customs.  A presentation gift to a long time employee from a well known company.  It had traveled the world before this.

We took our hiking poles to Alaska as we had quite a few hiking excursions and it was worth it! If you are flying, ( glad I checked it out last minute) you will need to put them in the checked baggage. They are not allowed on the carry-on, which is what I was going to do so they would not get damaged. They collapse, so were were fine and never had one question about the rubber tips covering a spike. We took the ski baskets off as well. When we went on shore multiple times over a 14 day period, they were visible on our backpacks. We didn't have a problem.

Buy knives on shore and you will either be allowed to take them to your cabin OR they will be stored until you disembark.

We took our treking poles on our last 2 cruises and had no issues.

Ok, I will seek out the security officer on board and ASK before purchase! Osaka is on the 2nd cruise of our B2B2B, so will have plenty of time to seek clarification. Happy if they keep it securely (and not pass it on to the galley for a test run!) until we disembark in Singapore. All good, thanks for your responses.
