Grekat Posted February 5, 2023 #1 Share Posted February 5, 2023 We will be on Quantum June 9th with cruising Endicott Arm from 5a-10a then on to Juneau with 1p arrival. Has anyone had experience if they are not able to cruise Endicott that they go directly on to Juneau early or just cruise slowly and arrive Juneau at scheduled time? Rare Coral Posted February 6, 2023 #2 Share Posted February 6, 2023 I haven't heard reports of Endicott Arm being iced out frequently. It is often that Tracy Arm is and they would go to Endicott Arm as a substitute. Endicott Arm doesn't have the twists and turns that Tracy Arm does that keeps ships from going. To note the differences between Tracy and Endicott - Google Map reference: Tracy is in the middle left of image and Endicott while not marked is due south of Tracy and an almost straight channel. Being south does not have much reflection on the melting glaciers - it is the flow after the chunks have caved off flowing to the open sea. These chunks get jammed up at Tracy and therefore the cruise ships avoid the hazards of a lot of ice clutter. Google Maps
