chefdeedee Posted March 9, 2006 #1 Share Posted March 9, 2006 I heard at my local bunko meeting - that a group of passengers (4) were "kicked off" a RCCL ship just a month or so ago. They were "allegedly" left at a port, with no way to get home, and were left "on their own". Their alleged crime was talking about the honeymoon murder at sea. Questions are - has anyone heard of this happening? Can this even happen? Plus - I'm sure there is more to the story than I'm being led to believe. . . . Feedback and Input is greatly appreciated. FYI - The person at the bunko group was a sister of the person who was kicked off the ship.
superjerryw Posted March 9, 2006 #2 Share Posted March 9, 2006 Sounds ridiculous to me. The cruise lines bend over backwards to accomodate the passengers in order to get repeat business. I can't imagine they booted anyone from the ship because of what they were saying. To actually get booted from a ship you need to really exhibit some outrageous behavior. There have been families that have been booted bacause of the behavior of their kids. You really have to be doing something destructive to get thrown off. hdawson Posted March 9, 2006 #3 Share Posted March 9, 2006 People are occaisionally put off the ship in ports, but it's for behavior or criminal reasons. Not rumors or speculation of previous events.
The Brown Hornet Posted March 9, 2006 #4 Share Posted March 9, 2006 It's true. All four individuals were caught wearing jeans in the dining room. :D
chefdeedee Posted March 9, 2006 Author #5 Share Posted March 9, 2006 I have a tendency to believe that MORE happened than what I'm being told, but she insists it was just because they were talking about the honeymoon murder incident. . . . Bill-Squared Posted March 9, 2006 #6 Share Posted March 9, 2006 It's true. MGoBlue2 Posted March 9, 2006 #8 Share Posted March 9, 2006 More likely they they just didn't make it back to the ship before it sailed.
Isaac Posted March 9, 2006 #9 Share Posted March 9, 2006 If you heard it at Bunko, it must be true.

chefdeedee Posted March 9, 2006 Author #11 Share Posted March 9, 2006 My first response was - there's gotta be something more- you just don't get thrown off a cruise ship for talking. . . .unless you are threatening other passengers. . . . WEll - this lady at Bunko got all witchy, and mad that I, and others, didn't believe her half baked story. Reason for original post - was if anyone was on the ship when it allegedly happened, they could shed light on the real reason they were kicked off. A Non-Bunko believer. superjerryw Posted March 9, 2006 #12 Share Posted March 9, 2006 More likely they they just didn't make it back to the ship before it sailed. Sounds like the best explanation and they are too embarassed to admit it.
ChuckyMoe Posted March 9, 2006 #13 Share Posted March 9, 2006 I can't shed any light on your particular matter but I can tell you that it does happen. We were on the Brilliance in January and ate breakfast with some other cruisers. We got chatting and they told us that an acquaintance of theirs was escorted off the ship in Bahamas. He had been verbally abusive to the desk attendants. He then came back on another occasion to the desk and was verbally abusive to the one of the managers. He was left to find his own way home. I believe that you don't have to be verbally abusive if you don't like something on your cruise. I would have thrown the guy off myself. I can imagine how some people can be rude and the staff shouldn't have to put up with it. I have always found the staff to be very accommodating and if there is anything they can do personally to make your holiday better, then they will certainly try to do it. chefdeedee Posted March 9, 2006 Author #15 Share Posted March 9, 2006 Wow - how verbally abusive does one have to get, to be thrown off a cruise ship. Thanks for your post.
royal4life Posted March 9, 2006 #16 Share Posted March 9, 2006 I was on Enchantment a few weeks after the honeymoon murder. A group of about 8 eight of us were at the casino bar and it was all over all of the TVs behind the bar (cnn). We discussed the event and what everyone had heard, I'm sure we were loud, no one said a word, the bartenders didn't comment but they weren't even uneasy about us discussing this. I'm sure this topic has come up quiet a bit since this summer. I find it hard to believe that someone would be put off the ship for this behavior. weRready2go Posted March 9, 2006 #18 Share Posted March 9, 2006 I read awhile (Jan. maybe) ago on here that a family had been put off. But if I remember right, it had to do with the unruly teenagers who they had already warned. Alcohol may have been involved. Might not be the same case though. My first thought, they won't put you off for something like that.
Sue L Posted March 9, 2006 #19 Share Posted March 9, 2006 Last year we had a honeymoon couple ( they looked 12) thrown off in Roatoan because the husband was caught with drugs!!! This was our first port! I still wonder what happened to them. If there still married?

Petert Posted March 9, 2006 #23 Share Posted March 9, 2006 Some time after the Brilliance left Turkey there was a claim made that the three young men from NY, who were the last persons to be seen with the missing honeymooner, had made a rape attempt. The family was put ashore for this reason, and not for talking about the disappearance. From what has been published it seems that they were actually somewhat reticent about discussing the events.
