xps15z Posted March 9, 2023 #1 Share Posted March 9, 2023 Considering switching group from OV Balconies to OV on Deck 3 (midship). Anyone here can report back their experience on Deck 3 with the motion? I've never stayed in OV. All of my sailings have been midship balconies with the exception of a Boardwalk at the back of the ship. The only time I've felt any sort of motion was at the back of the ship while sleeping, but not enough to say someone else might get motion sickness. There's two people in our group who does get motion sickness. Some of the medicine doesn't work for one of them. So curious if Deck 3 which is all midship OV would be recommended for them. As I would think any room that's midship no matter the level would have minimum motion.
time4u2go Posted March 9, 2023 #2 Share Posted March 9, 2023 In general, the more mid-ship and the lower down you are, the less motion there will be. So all other things being equal, a deck 3 room will have less motion than a balcony room.
taglovestocruise Posted March 9, 2023 #3 Share Posted March 9, 2023 60 or so midship OV cabins on deck three. Most under the Ice Rink Studio B or under the casino.
acpalmer Posted March 9, 2023 #4 Share Posted March 9, 2023 We have had cabins on both Oasis and Allure on Deck 3 midship. I choose those on purpose because I get motion sickness and I do better if I can be lower and midship. That said, I didn't feel much motion on either Oasis class ship in the Caribbean, so very well may have been fine anywhere on the ship. On our Navigator cruise last Thanksgiving out of LA, the seas were rougher (always true of the Mexican Riviera, I think) and I was feeling sick on the upper decks regardless of the meds I took (which do work for me if I start them a couple days before sailing and take one every morning and one every night). Izumi way up high was the worst on the Navigator. Anyway, I love Deck 3 midship on the Oasis class--it's great for those who are sensitive to motion. And we never heard any noise from either the casino or Studio B above us.
