GPS on SL?

I’m on Scarlet Lady now. Why doesn’t GPS work to show us on Google or Apple Maps where we are at sea? Is it blocked by the VV app? It works on land.

FYI - you can use google maps WITHOUT internet by downloading maps in advance.

Weird, I've never had a problem with it on any ships. In fact we had a hilarious use of a running tracker on a cruise where we 'ran' 35-40 miles because the system was tracking the movement of the ship, not us walking around the walking track. 🙂

I’m on Scarlet now too and Apple Maps can’t find my location. Not surprising because I don’t have any cell coverage and am using a pre iPhone 14 pro.

It could be because you are on WiFi it’s trying to take the location from there.

If the phone is not getting a GPS signal from the sky - then it does not matter if you have wifi or not.

I'm on Scarlet currently and Google Maps is working fine as long as you are outside.

Based on your question I’m going to assume it’s an iPhone.  Depending on what model phone you have some use A-GPS which you need to have a cell tower to assist with the GPS positioning.  You may need to be outside and you may also may need to give it a minute to get the lock.  Keep in mind that the maps will not load unless you use a map app that allows you to download maps offline.  So you will only see your little blue dot and no context.

Problem solved. 
On an open deck I get GPS and maps work. Inside the ship it doesn’t work.
