Rare drron29 Posted April 1, 2023 Author #101 Share Posted April 1, 2023 And back into Tangier. And the casbah.
Rare drron29 Posted April 1, 2023 Author #102 Share Posted April 1, 2023 Nearly back at the Moon. That afternoon we bombed out in trivia and I failed miserably at putting. 1
Rare drron29 Posted April 1, 2023 Author #103 Share Posted April 1, 2023 A couple of shots of Tangier in daylight. That evening we started with drinks in the Paorama lounge with a couple from Florida we met at the IC Lisbon. Then had dinner with them in SALT. Here is the menu.
Rare drron29 Posted April 1, 2023 Author #104 Share Posted April 1, 2023 Rojaan had the wite wine of the night and I the red. They were easy drinking. Rojaan began with the chicken parcels and I had the harissa cauiflower. For mains Rojaan had the lamb which she asked for medium well but it came too rare for her. I had the quail but the photo was too blurry to paste. I had the rice pudding and Rojaan the local ice cream with pomegranate. Neither of us thought they were to our tastes. An enjoyable evening but once again we found the food underwhelming.

Certainly better than on the Dawn last August when I had no hope of uploading all the photos. No, it’s not implemented yet. Still glacially slow for most of us. They are now saying maybe next segment.
Rare drron29 Posted April 1, 2023 Author #106 Share Posted April 1, 2023 (edited) Saturday and we arrive in Cadiz and it is still dark. Very little sleep as the clocks went forward 2 hours last night. A Spanish navy ship is in. Rumour has it new Spanish navy ships have glass bottoms so that they can see the old Spanish navy. The Splendour of the Seas in dry dock. Joined by the Costa Venezia. And now we are off ro Arcos de la Frontera. Won't be as many pictures from the bus asI slept most of the way there. I don’t know why you are saying this? Are you on a ship? If so, which one? Starlink may not be implemented on every SS ship but I am on the Moon and we are on Starlink and I am getting four to five times the speed of the old system.
Rare drron29 Posted April 1, 2023 Author #108 Share Posted April 1, 2023 And of course I am on the Moon with the standard free internet. All my posts in this thread have been done on board. Rare jpalbny Posted April 1, 2023 #109 Share Posted April 1, 2023 Looking forward to your Arcos de la Frontera pix! We were there a few years ago after a VERY long DIY day in Cadiz. I think we were both sleepwalking by the time we got there...

Besides having the same glacial service as on the crossing, I asked Reception before posting what the latest timeframe was. Perhaps just you regulars have a trial access and the rest of us don’t. jollyjones Posted April 2, 2023 #111 Share Posted April 2, 2023 I always buy the premium wifi so I know it'll be a bit faster than standard, but note that drron is on the standard. On the crossing, it was the old system and I got about 2.75Mbps down and 0.4 up. Since Lisbon it has consistently been Starlink at about 10Mbps down and up very variable - 0.5 to 4 ish. I suggest you speak to Reception again if you are not on Starlink for some reason. https://www.speedtest.net will tell you how you are connecting. And of course it's still satellite so it's never going to be anything like land based broadband. See screenshot below of a speed test that I have just done.
Rare drron29 Posted April 2, 2023 Author #112 Share Posted April 2, 2023 Back to the pictures. You might notice that there were very few photos taken from the bus. That is because of the short night after 10 minutes on the bus I was asleep. 2
Rare drron29 Posted April 2, 2023 Author #113 Share Posted April 2, 2023 The walk was up a steep hill and Rojaan's hip and back were playing up so we were rather slow. Only a few steps to go to see the front of the church.
Rare drron29 Posted April 2, 2023 Author #114 Share Posted April 2, 2023 It was worth it. Even interesting steps. The views from the top were spectacular.
Rare drron29 Posted April 2, 2023 Author #115 Share Posted April 2, 2023 The Parador which we will come back to for snacks and a drink. I then went with the group for a walk around the village whilst Rojaan recuperated. At the bottom of this lane they had begun to build a convent but it was never finished. It is now a boutique hotel and it is said the bar is the best in the village.
Rare drron29 Posted April 2, 2023 Author #116 Share Posted April 2, 2023 It certainly was up and down. Occasional cars but the motorcycles were intent on never slowing down. Fortunately no casualties.

Great updating by you and jollyjones about the Internet speed questions and challenges. Good to use that www.speedtest.net website. Clearly things are better, but hopefully the speed and quality will improve much MORE for the future. Love the additional pictures from Morocco!! Have not visited there, but it looks historic, interesting and fascinating. Keep up the excellent sharing. THANKS! Enjoy! Terry in Ohio
Rare drron29 Posted April 2, 2023 Author #118 Share Posted April 2, 2023 (edited) The ramble continues. Spanish style electrical wiring. This was a little art gallery. I enjoyed some of it. Edited April 2, 2023 by drron29
Rare drron29 Posted April 2, 2023 Author #119 Share Posted April 2, 2023 Did you notice the slightly risque one? I really liked this one. Now back to the Parador. A beverage and simple tapas.

Rare drron29 Posted April 2, 2023 Author #122 Share Posted April 2, 2023 So we are back on the bus. I kept awake for a while so a few pictures of the countryside.Lots of olives and a very green countryside. Before long back in Cadiz. We went past the ship repair yards. And soon back on the Moon.
Rare drron29 Posted April 2, 2023 Author #123 Share Posted April 2, 2023 This though wasn't a totally enjoyable excursion. The guide was more into trivia such as pointing out a shop that only sold goat and sheep products. Didn't appear to have much detailed knowledge of history. Got back to the ship so went straight to Kaiseki for lunch. And our food. One disappointment on the Dawn they had sea urchin on the menu but not now on the Moon. Over the yearsvisiting Japan I have developed a taste for it.
Rare drron29 Posted April 2, 2023 Author #124 Share Posted April 2, 2023 A lazy afternoon. Took a few more photos from our balcony with the blue sky and sea. And behind the naval ship the bridge that the locals are proud of - the Constitution Bridge. And our neighbour departs. Bombed back again in trivia but struggled to equal third in the putting plus a point for a hole in one.
Rare drron29 Posted April 2, 2023 Author #125 Share Posted April 2, 2023 Dinner was back in Atlantide. A new daily menu plus a couple og changes in the standard menu with a couple of scallop dishes. I began with the beef tartare and caviar and Rojaan with the mushroom and asparagus salad. Rojaan had her usual Sav Blanc and I a nice French red. I then had the scallop and mushroom soup and we both had the lobster tail for mains.Perfectly cooked. For desserts Rojaan had the pavlova and I the lemon meringue pie. Our waiter was an older Fillipino who told us that there are only 40 Fillipino staff in the hotel department out of slightly over 200 staff. We had an excellent wine waiter from Bali Sri. Her real name is Putu but there are already several other Putu's with Silversea hence a different name.
