NCLH Credit - what does it cover?

I inherited some ncl stock and didn;t sell yet,  If I apply for the credit of $250 what can it be use for.  I already have the premium plus package.  Can it be used for upcharges (say lobster) in the special dining rooms.  I know it can be used for spa credit but anything else.

Thanks

Pat

The credit is only $100, as far as I'm aware.  It's non-refundable so it's not good for DSC, CruiseNext, and I've heard mixed reports of being able to use it in the casino (I could not but maybe I was doing something wrong.)

So that leaves things like restaurants, including upcharges but excluding gratuities, gift shops, excursions (if you book them onboard.)  I used mine for a couple lunches in the Diner, some wine tastings, and alcohol in the gift shop.

if you own 100 shares or more, you will get:

$250 onboard credit per stateroom on sailings of 15 days or more.
$100 onboard credit per stateroom on sailings of 7 to 14 days.
$50 onboard credit per stateroom on sailings of 6 days or fewer.

There is no reason not to apply for the credit.

It is a non-refundable credit and can be used for most things, except gratuities. Yes, it would pay the upcharge for lobster (not sure about the gratuities on the upcharge). If you still have credits at the end of the cruise, stop and buy yourself a shirt or some overpriced snacks from the gift shop. We never seem to have problems spending ours - one embarkation photo to add to our collection, miscellaneous food charges, shore ex, etc.

My most preferred:

Shorex purchased on ship

Taxes on drinks in port

If I buy one low priced Shorex on board (think Juneau tram, Icy Strait gondola, bus tours, etc.) then I get one free with FAS and we pay about $50 for DW.  Add in a typical $20 - $30 in drink taxes while in port and we're left with couch change for a $100 SH OBC.  Add a second Shorex and it's gone.

Thanks all - it's a 16 day cruise which is why I said $250.  Good to know that I can use it on the upcharges in certain restaurants.  I know it will

not cover the extra gratuities. I read you can not use it in the casino.

I am sure I will not have a problem using it, wonder if it can be used for laundry.  Totally forgot about the taxes while in port - thanks for that too.

Appreciate the help

Pat

It covers gratuities. It just doesn't cover the Daily Service Charge. I've added extra tips at a specialty restaurant and a bar. It doesn't work for the casino. It's basically anything except the Daily Service Charge and casino. You can use it for shopping onboard, spa, and Internet.

Anyone know about Bingo? Is that considered casino?
