JeanneEDW Posted April 25, 2023 #1 Share Posted April 25, 2023 Has anyone worn Crocs on an Alaskan cruise? How do they fare on rainy excursions?
Rare Ferry_Watcher Posted April 25, 2023 #2 Share Posted April 25, 2023 Probably okay for wearing around the ship, but while on shore during a port visit, you should consider footwear that offers you more stability and protection from the rain. You would be surprised at how many otherwise healthy people are wheeled off the ship on disembarkation day due to foot, ankle, knee, leg injuries sustained while on the cruise / port-of-call visits. Having appropriate footwear is a-must for Alaska.

I wear crocs everywhere, on and off the ship. They will let water in if you have the kind with holes, but a change in socks will fix that. I've seen people scrambling up the rocks by Mendenhall in them, and they are popular with sailors because they don't slip. I have fallen in them on the ship because they don't slide on a wet deck though. I put my foot down expecting it would slip a bit and it didn't. I'm looking at a pair of glitter crocs for formal evenings. 😁

Rare eileeshb Posted April 27, 2023 #5 Share Posted April 27, 2023 You can get croc boots and also their professional range of clogs don’t have holes. Some of them have anti-slip soles. Crocs are the height of fashion theses days thanks to Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande.

Rare fishiecrackers Posted April 27, 2023 #7 Share Posted April 27, 2023 I will tell you that as a teacher and mom to teenagers here in Anchorage, I have seen Crocs worn for any and everything you could imagine, from basketball on an icy day to an intense bouldering mountain hike (that didn't go well). It wouldn't be my personal choice due to weather and stability. You're probably fine if you have wool socks and you're mostly shopping and walking around town for your port days. If you're doing any sort of physical excursion, I'd bring hiking boots or at least a tennis shoe.
Lane Hog Posted May 11, 2023 #8 Share Posted May 11, 2023 My wife makes fun of me for shoveling and snowblowing the driveway wearing Crocs... As mentioned, a new pair of socks fixes just about everything nature has thrown at them so far.
Rare eileeshb Posted May 12, 2023 #9 Share Posted May 12, 2023 The crocs range goes way beyond the clogs that everyone is familiar with. This is a promo image we got from Crocs, I work in a shop that sells them. These are their version of "chelsea boots".
