Where to stay before cruise from Rotterdam

Good afternoon,

First timer to Amsterdam here.  I am planning to arrive a couple days before my May 2024 cruise from Rotterdam.  Would it make sense to go directly to Rotterdam from the airport, and take a train to Amsterdam (sans luggage) on day #2?

 

Or would you recommend staying in Amsterdam, then traveling to Rotterdam on embarkation day?

I would stay in Rotterdam, then use the train to visit Amsterdam: they’re fast and very frequent.

 

Hotels in Rotterdam are much cheaper, and you’ll be well placed for a relaxed getaway on the morning of your cruise. Rotterdam itself is also well worth exploring.

Agree with gumshoe, and stay in Rotterdam.

We have used Rotterdam Hilton, which is a short walk from the train station and also used Hotel New York, which is a distance from the train station, but just beside the Cruise Terminal.  Hotel New York was previously the HQ of Holland America Line and there is a lot of cruise memorabilia to be viewed.
