Car rental in Galway Ireland????

We are in Galway for one day in May on the NCL STAR in May.   The wife really want to go to Cliffs of Moher.   The cruise line does not offer a tour and any tours I have found the timing cuts it far to close on return, especially since this is a tender port I believe.   A "private car" is 600 euros (and I am a cheap SOB) so thinking about a car rental.   Does anyone have experience here?   What rental places are near the pier, etc...

Both have very limited hours during the week and even more restrictive at weekends.

Both locations are a distance from the dock area.
