Iona Fjord Cruises Temporarily Not on Sale

Just looked at a few Iona 7 night Fjord cruises on the website and note they are not available to book until 12 May.  Any idea what may be happening?

They are recategorising some of Ionas cabins, could that be it?

I've seen it suggested elsewhere on social media that they are changing the categories of some cabins on Deck 8 aboard Iona and Arvia...

About time too. Arvia has an additional metal rail at the aft end of the crew pool deck which means none of the forward facing balcony cabins on deck 8 can see the sea! They can't even be sea view. I think they should close that section of the prom deck so those cabins at least get some privacy.

These are the forward cabins on Arvia/Iona deck 8. As you see no privacy whatever and the 2 centre cabins are classed as deluxe.

 

the deck plans show in red the position of the additional solid steel rail on Arvia. The binocular users view will be blocked.

 

Arvia has prom deck style decking in the yellow line area with access from the crew pool deck.

 

For forward cabin privacy there should be a lockable gate at the blue X. Arvia did have a do not enter notice on a rope there at night but that is not going to deter drunken louts.

 

IMO those cabins do not even rate an inside category.

I checked this morning and this is what I found for Iona

Deck 8 plan from 'Our ships' and detailed 'previous' deck plan

Note the small balconies on deck 8 are now unclassified and the smaller balconies on other decks, e.g deck 17, appear to be now have a different colour code - light blue

Seems to apply to Arvia as well
