Florida_gal_50 Posted May 27, 2023 #26 Share Posted May 27, 2023 I got coffee from the Neptune lounge maybe twice on my last cruise. I got it maybe 15 minutes after it opened. It was lukewarm. I guess maybe it takes a while to heat up. I want hot coffee. At least the coffee maker in the room was closer to being hot.

My husband won’t use coffee makers inside hotel rooms. He’s not trusting of the cleaning practices-frequency/thoroughness. You would be surprised by what people do with them…like boil hotdogs for example. Our son told us about his high school marching band peers doing just that. That’s really tame though…

I sure hope people won’t be gross like that in Neptune suites and/or they get cleaned.

If someone wants Sanka, Starbucks, or a hotel coffee maker is on them.

Thank goodness. They stay in normal hotels with real coffee makers.

That’s really tame though… There are lots of articles, and I believe a cookbook, on what you can cook in your hotel room using the coffee maker and the iron. In younger days I travelled with emergency Ramen noodle packets for late arrivals when it turned out the restaurant was closed by the time we checked in. I always scrubbed the glass carafe after - with soap, but you can’t count on everyone doing that. That’s why I also wash the carafe in a hotel before I make coffee, just to be safe. While I’ve never used the iron to make toast or grilled cheese, on the rare occasion I’ve used a hotel iron for my clothes I test it on one of their pillowcases first.
BeachBum47 Posted May 28, 2023 #37 Share Posted May 28, 2023 My husband and I got a massage on the Koningsdam last month and I would never do it again. It cost $422 USD including tax and tip and it was just mediocre. If I wanted somebody to rub their hands willy nilly on my back without any rhyme or reason, I could have asked my husband and saved 400 bucks! 😆 Really, it’s was just blah. And the lady kept accidentally dropping the massage oil bottle on the floor and it would make a loud BAM! sound when it landed and kind of jolt me out of my relaxed state that I was trying desperately to achieve. She dropped it FOUR times. They just didn’t even try to make it relaxing and it wasn’t worth it at all. Save your money. 1

I still wouldn’t be shocked if the little sh**s found a way to boil Vienna sausages in a Keurig. Teenagers have seriously loose screws…with that being said, there are quite a few adults who do as well. 😂

For as much time as I'll ever spend in a Neptune Suite I'm not worried about it.

I was hoping for a good sports massage or something of that nature for my husband. He has a pulled muscle right now that’s killing him. Massages are not a huge deal for me. I can never relax. Strangers touching me creeps me out a bit. A rare pedicure is about the most I’m willing to do. That’s only because I am terrible at painting my toenails. Sad to also report, but the onboard pedicure are also over-priced. compared to stateside prices. Better off finding a place while ashore, or getting this done before or after the cruise, Always wanted to try those fish-nibbling pedicures, mainly in Asian ports, but never had the time. That said I have had several hair high-lightings done on board which have have been priced comparably, and was happy with the results.

When I get a massage it best be a deep tissue. I find it pretty difficult to find, even at home. You just never know and it's hard to waste so much money because they are twice as much as home.

Again, getting the thermal spa package may be the better option - floating weightless in the thermal pool and reclining on the heated loungers while gorgeous views go floating by may be "almost as good". There are also dry heat saunas available to all passengers, location always quite secretive but "just ask" and they will be revealed. Ask at the spa reception desk. Plus a chance to share notes with other thermal spa customers, to learn if one massage specialist stands out over the others.

I think I still have time to slop some polish on my toes and scrub the excess off of my skin the next day. Yep, that’s how much of a barbarian I am. I think a house full of boys has done me in. 😂
