The overnight tender drops you right down next to all the action in the old port. That pier requires a shuttle to get back and forth. We enjoyed dinner last week in Mykonos little Venice and made the 5 minute walk to the tender. Then 5 minute tender to the ship. Easy peasy.

Rare MeganGC1983 Posted June 10, 2023 Author #833 Share Posted June 10, 2023 First on the drive we saw Teo’s house… has he been lying to us the whole time?! Nope but he thought it was funny. then we arrived at our Mykonos host. The house insanely beautiful. Mediterranean. We took seats to await he demo.
Rare MeganGC1983 Posted June 10, 2023 Author #834 Share Posted June 10, 2023 Welcome drinks and sweets says welcome in Greece. Then the instructor introduced herself. She was very witty and chippy just like your Grecian grandma that won’t let you slide without a side eye.

Rare MeganGC1983 Posted June 10, 2023 Author #836 Share Posted June 10, 2023 Then there was ingredients and directions. Spinach pie, stuffed peppers and taziki. Oh and DH got picked as a cooking model lol
Rare MeganGC1983 Posted June 10, 2023 Author #837 Share Posted June 10, 2023 It was about an hour and half cooking demo. Kind of long. But very informative. Nothing is grown or produced on Mykonos. Everything is imported from Athens. Then we finally got to eat. Amazing food. Stuff I wouldn’t even normally eat. So good and she gave the recipes for everything. That spinach pie… we will definitely have again.
Rare MeganGC1983 Posted June 10, 2023 Author #838 Share Posted June 10, 2023 Then it was time to leave. An excursion well worth it. Definitely. However Mario and his bus were gone and some of our fellow bus mates left their stuff on that bus… including passports. Bad deal. We got back to the ship area and Virgin had buses to Old Town… let’s go!! 9
Rare MeganGC1983 Posted June 10, 2023 Author #839 Share Posted June 10, 2023 Where the bus dropped us off… I can’t even explain the beauty. Our cooking instructor told us that everyone has to have White House’s, you have to touch up once a month and businesses paint the streets but only between the hours of 7am and 8:30am.

Rare MeganGC1983 Posted June 10, 2023 Author #841 Share Posted June 10, 2023 We were thirty so we had to get walking “beers”. And stopped to see some pizzas in a window. Every shop was more interesting and everyone was very welcoming. We had to see the windmills.
Rare MeganGC1983 Posted June 10, 2023 Author #842 Share Posted June 10, 2023 (edited) We wandered along and totally understood how there’s 800 churches on the island. They are everywhere. Stopping occasionally for beers/ cocktails. This was a “pornstar martini”. It’s on every menu… vanilla vodka and lychee with passion fruit juice. About this time, my phone died and the ship also moved from tender to dock. We stayed 5 more hours on shore including sunset. I’ll add those pictures in a few. Rare MeganGC1983 Posted June 10, 2023 Author #843 Share Posted June 10, 2023 However now… it’s sunrise and I’m gonna catch a few hours of sleep. Mykonos is amazing.
aztekpm Posted June 10, 2023 #844 Share Posted June 10, 2023 Mmmm, spanakopita (spinach pie). My friend from work was Greek and her mother would make that, potato pizza and baklava for us every couple of months!

Rare MeganGC1983 Posted June 10, 2023 Author #848 Share Posted June 10, 2023 Continuing on with Mykonos, we stopped at a few random rooftop bars and restaurants. The “pornstar martini” was everywhere. And it slowly started to get later. And sunset happened. Listening to yacht rock and and watching the sun go down was surreal. The sky was like a painting.
Rare MeganGC1983 Posted June 10, 2023 Author #849 Share Posted June 10, 2023 Started to get hungry. Most bar restaurants only had small bite menus but we found a gyro spot. This was chicken and fantastic. Apparently I like real taziki, not the US version. 😆
Rare MeganGC1983 Posted June 10, 2023 Author #850 Share Posted June 10, 2023 After eating, it was really starting to get wild in the streets. The club scene was firing up. Drag queens, saxophone players, long lines, barefoot girls carrying their heels to wear out but not on cobblestone. We decided 1am was good, so we headed back on a shuttle Virgin Voyages provides to the ship.
