We've added babies to the brood! What ship?

Recommended Posts

We are thrilled to bring our family on our next cruise.  At the time, we will have TWO 18 month old's.  Looking at Adventure but seeing conflicting baby splash areas?  Also looking at bigger ships like Harmony or Odyssey?  Any thoughts, comments or prior experience?

Babies aren't allowed in the pool, so it's important that you choose a ship with a splash area.  They're very nice.

Younger than three, your babies won't qualify for the youngest kids' club, but they offer a babysitting "club".  I think it costs $7-8/hour.  You can check out toys from the babysitting area.

Opt for one of RCI's larger ships that have splash area's and the Royal Babies-n-Tots Nursery. And request pack-n-plays, so book a cabin large enough for them. Family cabins are a great choice.

We've traveled as an extended family with under age two grandkids.

We did the WOS with a 2 year old.  There is a GREAT splash pad and a few activities areas for them.  A play area deck 15/16 one of the boardwalk and one next to the Adventure Ocean club thats indoors.  The adventure ocean club only gives you "x" amount of hours, and it seems to vary per ship.  We were given 8 hours for the cruise.  You can always call each day to see if there are additional openings as folks cancel. It's like $8/hr.

On our cruise, they pool attendants allowed the younger ones with swim diapers in the pool, an area I don't want to get into a debate with, But I would NOT expect this to be the case as it's against the rules.  So find one with a good splash pad!

What an 18 month old needs on any cruise ship:

  • Parental presence
  • nutrition
  • love and attention
  • Adequate rest
  • favorite toy item
  • safe environment
  • clean diapers

That's about it!!

Have fun,

Teddie
