kelly4126 Posted June 14, 2023 #1 Share Posted June 14, 2023 Good morning , we are currently on a cruise in Norway on the pride . My husband likes to play roulette a little bit. He tried to buy chips and they no longer have $1.00 chips which he will place on several numbers . He was disappointed and did not play . They only sell $2.00 chips now. Is that the new norm ? Or because we are in Europe ? Thank you for your responses! kelly

Thank you for your responses! kelly We had the same experience on the Celebration in February, looks like its the new norm. Definitely less people playing roulette than in the past. But I am guessing they are making more money which is what matters to them.

Roulette betting chips are generic chips that are keyed by color to each bettor. The dealer/casino can sell them for whatever amount they like - $1, $2, $5, etc. With a $2 chip minimum, it would make sense that there would be a $10 bet per spin minimum. That seems a little steep, but maybe there's a lot of demand for roulette in Europe.

Even the locals places are higher than they used to be. I just read an article last night that in 2022, visitor count was down from 2019, but waging dollars were up 25%.
hard_eight Posted June 14, 2023 #6 Share Posted June 14, 2023 Was out there in Nov, up everywhere! No more cheap craps at Binion's! $10 craps minimums prices me out of a lot of playing time.

From my trips out there on the Strip over Thanksgiving including Cooties era (2020-2022), the mid to low rent casinos had sparse crowds but the higher end-Bellagio, Caesars, Wynn and Venetian were packed. Princess has its medallion and you can have food delivered to anywhere you are - including, in theory, the casino. A couple of years ago, Mr. Heald mentioned that Carnival was working on a delivery service for casual food other than pizza. I haven't heard anything about it since then, but maybe your dream can become a reality sometime? 😛
