fla gang Posted June 2, 2004 #1 Share Posted June 2, 2004 Lets find out the reason why so many cruisers will only use Carnival. Is it because they want to just party on the cruise, and feel Carnival is the best source, or are there other reasons? Let's here from you. GAndie Posted June 2, 2004 #2 Share Posted June 2, 2004 I've only sailed on TWO Carnival ships, the Fantasy and the Sensation. I like the Fantasy and sail her frequently for short cruises. I've never sailed Carnival for anything longer than a 4 day cruise...but I'll stick with the Fantasy because I like the ship, the crew and the passengers and it's very close to home. CruisingGirl Posted June 2, 2004 #3 Share Posted June 2, 2004 I've only been on Carnival. The other cruise lines can be a bit expensive and Carnival fits within my budget. nancy M. Posted June 2, 2004 #4 Share Posted June 2, 2004 This is my first cruise so I am not sure that I can answer this the way you would like to see but here it goes. We picked Carnival because it had all the things that we wanted in a cruise (ports, city of debarkation, etc...) and because the price was right. I have not gone on this cruise yet but have been very impressed by the service we have recieved from the staff thus far. Everytime I have called I have gotten an answer and good service so I am sure that if I cruise again I will be choosing them again also. jfritz126 Posted June 2, 2004 #5 Share Posted June 2, 2004 I have sailed on 4 Carnival ships with a 5th and 6th booked on the Legend in October 2004 and May of 2005. I have had nothing but fun on each and every ship and have nothing but good things to say about them. I have no reason not to try another ship but why would I? valentina1209 Posted June 2, 2004 #7 Share Posted June 2, 2004 Actually, we LOVE Royal Caribbean, but wanted to sail out of New York this time, and the Voyager's schedule didn't fit in with our plans, so we chose the Miracle, which was more economical and had a preferable schedule/itinerary. This will be our first time on a Carnival ship. Snowball Posted June 2, 2004 #8 Share Posted June 2, 2004 I've only sailed on Carnival, and have been completely satisfied with every one of them. I love their newer ships, I can always find an itinerary I like, the nightlife is great, the food is good, and they have a wonderful kids program. So far nothing has happened that has made me even consider trying another line. mecagirl Posted June 2, 2004 #9 Share Posted June 2, 2004 My first cruise (with RCL) was ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE!!! My second cruise (with Carnival) is IN TWO DAYS. I'll let you know in just over a week why I love Carnival!
LornaT Posted June 2, 2004 #10 Share Posted June 2, 2004 My first 2 cuises were on Carnival (1982 & 1983 Festivale & Tropicale) 3rd was on Royal Viking Sea (1985 and sooo STUFFY you had to dress formally for dinner every night!) 4th was Carnival (5/2/03 Spirit), 5th was Carnival (12/27/03 Glory), 6th & 7th are Carnival (Legend 12/21 & 12/29 2003) and 8th & 9th are Carnival (Spirit again 4/2 & 4/10 2005). Carnival has the right ports at the right times for the right price. And since I made my 78 year young Mom a cruise-a-holic.......she'll only sail Carnival. If your reading this Carnival I need new ports to see soon!
BigDoug Posted June 2, 2004 #11 Share Posted June 2, 2004 We have had 7 excellent cruises with Carnival so far. We love the itineraries and all the ships. Each ship is so different than the last. I hope to sail on all of Carnival's ships. Also, you can't beat the value. gr1634 Posted June 2, 2004 #12 Share Posted June 2, 2004 Had a friend of ours do a RCCL cruise just last week. She normally does Carnival but wanted to try something different. Said the food on RCCl was not as good and the rooms were tiny by comparison. I have been on 4 Carnival cruises now 3 on Destiny Class and once on the Conquest. Loved each and every one. So I can't really compare. til 4th cruise
halos Posted June 2, 2004 #13 Share Posted June 2, 2004 I can't compare either, I have only been on Carnival. I am willing to try another line, it's just that when I investigated before I booked this time, I found Cruise Critics, read through every review I could find and saw that Carnival was most consistent with good reviews, the food ranked much higher on most ships than on ships of other lines, the cabin size makes a difference to me and the price is always right...so that is why I keep coming back. For me it isn't about Brand Loyalty, it's just about what works for me at the time I book...and so far Carnival has fit the bill. I will try another line as soon as I find one that has a good rating for food/service and a good itinerary and a great price. TomD Posted June 2, 2004 #14 Share Posted June 2, 2004 Carnival's ads seemed to point more to the family vacation, IMHO. That was the only reason we picked Carnival for this trip, and why we did not use Carnival when we went without the kids. GottaLuvCruising Posted June 2, 2004 #15 Share Posted June 2, 2004 We've only been on three lines, RCI, Disney & Carnival. We've enjoyed all, but Carnival the most. It is because Carnival is more fun, more relaxed, has friendlier guests, and great entertainment. DreadPirateRobert Posted June 2, 2004 #16 Share Posted June 2, 2004 Our first "cruise ship" cruise was aboard Carnival. It was such a great experience that we've pretty much stayed with them. We did sail RCCL once but it was a business trip (really, it was!) and we had no control over which line. I did find Carnival to have bigger cabins and better food. Their prices and itinerary meet our needs. Lately we have been looking at RCCL's Rhapsody of the Seas. We may give it a try. Windjammer Fantome May 1988 ? Cotton Posted June 2, 2004 #17 Share Posted June 2, 2004 Hmmm. I've been on Princess and NCL, but I do prefer Carnival for many reasons. I've had great cruises on each line, but Carnival seems more my style. I also prefer the food quality and presentation, service in general, and larger cabins on Carnival. modnar Posted June 2, 2004 #18 Share Posted June 2, 2004 Well, we've only cruised once before, and that was with Carnival on the Jubilee in July, 2003, so I may not be much of an expert on this. But we had such a great time we're looking forward to our second cruise in July on Carnival Conquest.
robcool Posted June 2, 2004 #19 Share Posted June 2, 2004 I am not against trying any other line, but so far for where I want to go and do Carnival has offered the best price. Until I cruise more and have to get more picky about where I go price will be my main criteria. luvscruzin Posted June 3, 2004 #20 Share Posted June 3, 2004 Fun, food, and value. We have sailed two other lines, and have come back to Carnival this year. The atmosphere on Celebrity was a little too stuffy for us. The Seabreeze (of the now defunct Premier/Dolphin Cruise Line) was smaller, and we had a lot of fun there also. I've thought of trying RCCL, but think we'll stick with Carnival (unless of course, we were to win a free trip!) 7/10/04 Carnival Triumph Carnival Holiday 6/94 Dolphin Seabreeze 7/96 (now sunken!) nursejewels Posted June 3, 2004 #21 Share Posted June 3, 2004 When booking both my cruises, two different travel agents from two different agencies recommended CCL Fantasy over RCI SOS or any in the same price range with similar destinations because of room size and menu. Did y'all know that RCI doesn't even offer lobster tail??? That in itself won me over...because the lobster was SOOO good on my first cruise! I am a Carnival devotee! judyf Posted June 5, 2004 #23 Share Posted June 5, 2004 I enjoy all my cruises and I like trying different lines, ships and locations. Each line has things I like better then the others and some less. It's like comparing a Ford to a Chevy. LOL What I like about Carnival is the price, the # of ships to choose from and all the things to do on the ship. There's a lot of other little things I like too. Nana Dawn Posted June 5, 2004 #24 Share Posted June 5, 2004 Have been on three Carnival cruises, Celebration, Spirit and Triumph and have enjoyed each one for all the reasons above. When we decided to spot for a family vacation which includes two daughters, one son-in-law and 4 grandkids, we wanted the best experience for their first time cruise...we chose Carnival Triumph to the Western Caribbean in October. They are all looking forward to it and I have confidence in Carnival from start to finish that they will have the best time of their lives. crazy4bears Posted June 5, 2004 #25 Share Posted June 5, 2004 Have only been one one cruise which was Triumph. In process of booking another cruise. Almost booked RCCL but picked Valor over RCCL. Am I nuts. RCCL suite was $140 cheaper but think I'll book Valor because my daughter loved the CD and Wee Jimmy.
