tc-cruise Posted June 25, 2023 #1 Share Posted June 25, 2023 The connection is 1 hour 40 min. If missed, there is another flight 2 hours later from Houston arriving at FLL at 1PM. My cruise departs at 4PM. Do you think that will work?

You should be OK if your original flight lands at 11 AM, but your backup plan is very risky. The latest you can board is 60 minutes before the cruise actually departs. Since Carnival doesn't sail from Fort Lauderdale, but Miami, you'll have to deal with South Florida traffic, which means you are getting dangerously close to the 3 PM cutoff. This even assumes you can get a seat on the later flight. Depending on what terminal your flight arrives at, it may even take some time to get out of the Fort Lauderdale airport.
Susan in Maine Posted June 26, 2023 #4 Share Posted June 26, 2023 Even landing at 11AM would send me into a panic.

Port Everglades is like a 5 minute drive from FLL if that's where you're going out of. MIA is a bit further, but if you do land at 11 you should be fine. csm5986142 Posted June 26, 2023 #6 Share Posted June 26, 2023 We just got home yesterday and our flights, both going to our cruise and coming home, were delayed (on one we missed our connection). The next flight we tried to get on was already oversold with a standby list. Luckily we did fly in the night prior to the cruise, so we made it with a few hours to sleep before boarding the ship, but we spent a lot of time sitting in airports. The airlines just seem to be struggling to get back to normal (at least in our experience). 1
