bennybear Posted July 9, 2023 #2 Share Posted July 9, 2023 (edited) We would recommend four nights to help with jet lag and to see as much as possible in Tokyo. We also would recommend spending an equivalent amount of time or longer in Kyoto, It is absolutely spectacular and a day trip from the cruise will barely scratch the surface. We stayed in Shibuya as it is easy to access a lot from that area and took private transport arranged through out hotel from the port. We also liked the area around Ginza. Public transport will also be available but it will depend on how much luggage you have whether this is practical or not. SimplyMarvie Posted July 9, 2023 #3 Share Posted July 9, 2023 We'll be on the Diamond later this month, and our plan is just to take public transportation. The subway is quite close to the pier, and there's a Yamoto Luggage Shipping office relatively close. Shipping luggage from place to place is very common in Japan. We're not doing it to the port because it seems easier to just carry things with us on the local trains, but we will definitely be using the shipping service for every other movement in Japan -- from the Port to Kyoto and from Kyoto back to Tokyo and Tokyo to the Airport. Between the heat and wanting to maximize our sight-seeing time, it was a no-brainer.
