MLP12 Posted July 15, 2023 #1 Share Posted July 15, 2023 I booked a tour through Royal entitled "Fira On Your Own". It states "avoid the hassle of getting to Fira by enjoying a ride on a bus that takes you to the center of Fira". I booked it thinking this would avoid the necessity of using the cable cars/donkeys. Another post I read states that this is not the case; that we will still need to take the cable cars to the top. Has anyone done this tour who can explain how the transportation is handled and is the "bus" worth the price of the excursion? Thanks
CruiserBruce Posted July 15, 2023 #2 Share Posted July 15, 2023 If its booked through the cruise line, you will tender to the first port (Athinios), then take a bus to Fira, and be dropped off someplace in town. You may, or may not need to return to the ship via the tram...read the description closely.
MeHeartCruising Posted July 18, 2023 #3 Share Posted July 18, 2023 This does indeed sound like a way to avoid riding the cable car up or walking/riding the donkey path up to Fira. How much are they charging for what will likely be a 15 minute bus ride (each way?)?
