Special offers to extend cruise while onboard?

Some cruise lines will offer special fares to customers to extend their trips, such as offering an especially good fare to get passengers to stay onboard for another week.   I’ve never heard of the cruise desk on board doing this, but wondering if others have experience with this.

In 2013 we did this but I am not sure if it would occur again at this time.

We had done a long cruise from Sydney to Sydney around a lot of New Zealand so about 24 days. We were due to disembark in Sydney. We had made some lovely friends onboard who were staying on and they told us that the next segment along the Queensland coast to Bali wasn't very full and we could get a good deal. The next day we checked with the cruise sales specialist and they confirmed this. I can't remember the price but we stayed on until Bali and had fun with our new friends who are still friends to this day.

We have not done this--but it is also so tempting,  I know that this last June the cruise following ours had a VERY good price.  I did talk to a few people who would have loved extending--but didn't.  Why?  They had airline tickets through Seabourn--which could not be changed.

It definitely happens in the present day. I've seen some posts from people who have stayed on for an extra leg. What the price would be is determined on a case by case basis; one person's great deal could be an insufficient discount for another. And as noted above, re-arranging air travel on short notice is the biggest obstacle to doing so.

strange, I spoke to future cruise Jacco on Venture few days ago after I read this page. He is no, there are no special prices for extend cruise while onboard 😔

There is nothing official.  You would just need to see what the current price is and what they would quote to you.
