Island Princess Cabin B431 - Any Feedback?

Hello,

We have a booking for Island Princess' Balcony Cabin B431 and were wondering if anyone has had any recent experience with this cabin?  I did find a closed thread from 2012 (https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/1530432-island-princess-cabin-question/) that mentioned that the forward facing balcony is a bit smaller than some other balconies and that, since it is on a a bump out, that the balcony has a bit less privacy than some other balconies.  Also mentioned was that it might be a bit more open to rain.

On the plus side, it was mentioned that this is a great cabin for the Panama Canal, which is the cruise that we are booked for.  We also like the idea that this cabin is on the starboard (north facing for much of the trip) so perhaps might be a bit cooler.

If you have any experience with this cabin please let us know.

Thanks!

Good luck getting replies. I will be on the Island Princess in September and have started a couple of threads asking about the condition of the ship as well as about a section of balcony cabins on the Emerald deck, aft. I have also asked people currently on the ship who are blogging.

Few replies. It seems like Island cruisers don't frequent Cruise Critic.

I believe the balcony could be a bit smaller because of the curved corner.  I suppose decreased privacy depends on what you plan to do there.

As to the Panama Canal, are you looking at dull or partial transit?  And if a full transit, eastbound or westbound?  If eastbound, I would be happy with starboard side,  it WB would prefer port side.   It of course, you would be out and about on the ship much of the time.  EM
