  1. We had 3 cab drivers at the port in Seattle refuse to take us when they found out we were going to the Sheraton Grande (nearby) instead of the airport. We were told that this is illegal, but they do it anyway. 😡 The first one told us he "suddenly felt ill" and unloaded our luggage, then he picked up other passengers.
  2. Not really. We prefer happy hour every afternoon on our adjoining balconies. We do not enjoy sitting in crowded bars, waiting for waitresses (or room service). Try finding a bar table for 6 before dinner. 😵‍💫 While the bars have Bacardi, which I drink, they don't have mixers that I prefer. Princess house wines are pretty pedestrian, unless you buy the Premier package, which I consider stupid-expensive. We thoroughly enjoy shopping for regional wines wherever we cruise, as do many CC contributors. During dinner, we order wine or beverages from our waitstaff. YMMV.
  3. I have found that waiting until the first port to stock up on beverages eliminates the risk of confiscation, plus it is logistically easier when you aren't also schlepping luggage.
  4. I use the free lanyard. When we get off of the ship, I put the medallion in my pocket and clip the lanyard to the back of my hat, especially if it is windy, or we are on moving transportation. We often us Hop On/Hop Off buses, and it's easy to lose hats while moving. 🙀
  5. I'm fairly certain this item does not include a surge protector, yet it is now banned.
  6. According to the article: "Guests needing special devices such as CPap machines can request approved extension cords through the cruise line before they sail."
  7. Royal Carribean just eliminated the use of extension cords and multiplug adaptors that increase the number of available outlets. The only ones still acceptable are ones that supply multiple USB outlets, ONLY. The reasons given are pretty lame. Hopefully, Princess won't follow. Royal Caribbean finally explains which power outlets have been banned (msn.com)
  8. Thanks for sharing! We were on the Majestic last month for an Alaska cruise and all 6 of us were favorably impressed with the ship, service, food, and entertainment. Opening the balcony doors separating our mini suites provided us with the perfect place for uncrowded happy hours. We were underwhelmed by the noodle bar on the Lido deck, (soon to be replaced with pizza). It was nice having the Hollywood enclosed area instead of a Sanctuary for viewing the glaciers. We would all gladly sail on this ship again! Happy cruising!
  9. Twenty-one posts until you shared your concern. That's gotta be a record. 🤪 I wish all of you would complain about smoking in the casino instead.
  10. Do you think Princess will change their policy again because of your email? No doubt lots of research went into this rule change. I don't vape but my grandsons did in the "living room" of our mini suite earlier this month. I would not have known it even happened if I hadn't witnessed it. I am sensitive to cigarette smoke, but vaping doesn't bother me. The boys left the balcony door ajar when they vaped. Someone threatens to quit Princess daily on CC. It really gets tiresome. 🙉
  11. Wow! I thought those specialty desserts were $12. This is nuts!
  12. Last September, we cruised to Iceland aboard the Island Princess from Southampton. Apparently, the cruise wasn't selling well because they dropped the single supplement price to 106% and offered $600 per cabin in OBC. We did the math, and consequently booked 4 balcony cabins for the 4 of us, and each received the $600 in OBC plus $250 for shareholder credit. It was the only time I've ever left any non-refundable OBC unspent.
  13. I found it odd to have 2 charging ports on one side of the bed and none on the other. I used my 220-volt splitter, plugged into the lamp socket under the bed to power my USB fan and cell phone charger. Princess finally wised up with the new Sun. It has electrical outlets above the nightstands on both sides of the bed. With all of the people using CPAPs and other medical devices, I am surprised they haven't retrofitted outlets by the beds on every ship. It's unsafe having extension cords running around the cabins. They also got rid of those stinky little corner showers and tubs with shower curtains on the Sun. It's about time! 👍
  14. You have never had a balcony, yet you know all of this to be true? I was in Alaska on the Majestic earlier this month (3 mini suites), and we used our connecting balconies constantly. It was not cold or rainy and we had happy hour there every afternoon before dinner. It was wonderful, and we didn't have to compete for viewing areas with all of the people from inside cabins. BTW: No wind whistles either.
  15. Not to be a scold, but Tylenol and alcohol are an unhealthy mix. Maybe try some Advil instead?
  16. 3 out of 4 of us returned from an Iceland cruise (Island Princess) a year ago with Covid. Fairly mild symptoms. Got vaccinated before our Emerald Cruise in June/July. None of us got it. Just returned from Alaska on the Majestic. Two out of six of us tested positive upon return. I was one of them and had a very faint line on the test and virtually no symptoms. It seems inevitable now when flying, cruising, and other close contact activities. Thankfully it has become pretty mild for now.
  17. Ceilidh, I Googled your name after reading it many times and wondering how to say it. A You Tube video pronounced it Kay-lee. Is that correct? 🤔
  18. Ombud, I hope you have a wonderful cruise! I am looking forward to your reviews. With all of the bitter complaining about the Sun Princess on its previous voyage, I wonder how many of them would have felt if it was actually cancelled. Royal's Icon of the Seas just canceled its upcoming cruise due to propulsion issues. Royal Caribbean’s Icon of the Seas cancels its next sailing (msn.com)
  19. Last September, we flew from LAX to LHR on United Airlines with 3 people in Premium Economy and one person in Business Class. On the return trip, we flew Virgin Atlantic in the same two classes. United was a far more upscale experience than Virgin. I was surprised, because I expected Virgin to be spectacular. It wasn't.
  20. I wouldn't go if an inside was my only choice. I've been on two short cruises (Cuba) when ocean view cabins were the best available, but we prefer balconies or mini suites. Just returned from an Alaska cruise on the Majestic, Six of us in 3 mini suites. We enjoy happy hour on our balconies, and have our steward open the divider between balconies. I hate being packed into viewing areas when I can be on my own balcony without the congestion.
  21. It's unlikely that any cruise line would employ the nuclear option with all of the bad publicity that would follow.
