  1. I would think that under the Horizon Court would be quieter than under the pool deck, since the seating area is carpeted. I hope someone who has experienced this offers some insight.
  2. The 14-day Asia cruise (4 sea days) that we wanted sold out nearly two years in advance. I keep hoping some cabins open up on it so we can jump ship from our backup choice, a 12-day Asia cruise (6 sea days) that we have booked.
  3. On my upcoming Alaska cruise, a Premium Deluxe balcony cabin is $52 pp. less than a mini suite for the entire cruise. A few months ago, the mini suite was actually less expensive. It pays to check all of your options.
  4. Reading this thread reminded me to recheck prices. As of today, flights for my next cruise are: $911 from EZ Air, or $967 directly from the airlines. So far, I've had good luck with EZ Air, but I continually check and recheck. 😉
  5. If a mini suite on a cruise is $300-$400 pp. extra, we choose it. If the price is more like $800-$1,000 extra pp. we go with a balcony. It's all a matter of how much you want the sofa and larger shower/bathroom. On my next 3 cruises, one is in a balcony and two are in mini suites. I've never had an inside room. That is my line in the sand.
  6. Maybe Princess is employing dynamic pricing in the summer? July is more crowded than September.
  7. I just did a mock booking and it was $219 on Princess and $219 on the Aleutian Ballad website. We are on the Majestic out of Seattle on Sept. 8, 2024. Being the same price, we will book with Princess in case we can't port. Which sailing are you on?
  8. None of us enjoy cutbacks or charges for things that used to be included. With that said, Princess still offers the "most bang for your buck" from my perspective. Each time I shop cruises to different areas of the world, Princess is consistently the best value. Meanwhile, land-based travel has increased in price at a much faster pace. I have also sailed with RCCL, Carnival, and NCL. None of them provided a better experience. I would try Celebrity and some of the high-end brands just for comparison, but the huge price difference always stops me. Currently, we have 3 Princess cruises booked on the Emerald, Majestic, and Diamond. Can't wait! 👍
  9. The one we had on the Regal was a twin that came out sideways, like "lying the length of the sofa" and we could still access the balcony when the bed was open. Hope that helps. We will be on the Majestic in September in a mini with 4 of us. It includes a pull-down bed over the sofa bed.
  10. Today we booked Tokyo to Singapore on the Diamond Princess,12 days, November 25th to December 7th, 2025. It has more sea days and less ports than the sold-out Discovery cruise I preferred but visits the same countries. The $99 refundable deposit returned today which made me pull the trigger.
  11. Thanks, my question is are there set times for different activities?
  12. What about basketball? My grandsons will want to play on our Alaska cruise in September.
  13. I have one that is several years old and love it! Never reverse it though because I like the fleece to be on the inside. No crackle to it at all. I'm thinking about spraying the nylon side with waterproofing spray before our Alaska cruise in September. Has anyone else done that? How did it turn out? It works well on my Nikes. TIA!👍
  14. Game changer: Toilet paper won't be just for the Plus and Premier package buyers after all. 😬
  15. I have Kaiser Medicare Senior Advantage as well, and buy Princess travel insurance (with free upgrade). I've been wondering what happens if you are seriously injured while out at sea or in Canada. Does Kaiser/Medicare coverage still apply? My next two cruises will be North American coastal, one Pacific and one Atlantic, but we will be offshore, and briefly in Canada. TIA!
  16. I have a handheld rechargeable Water Pik that I carry for travel. The outlet in the bathroom will accommodate a shaver or a nightlight but not much else. Your cabin steward may be able to provide a long extension cord if you ask.
  17. The one Japan/Asia cruise I am interested in is the Oct. 13, 2025, cruise from Tokyo to Singapore. Unfortunately, it is already sold out (a year and a half in advance). Currently the only way to secure a cabin is to book from Seattle to Singapore. Almost a month long and 7 consecutive sea days. For me that is like prison. I hate more than two sea days without a port. Hoping some balconies or minis become available.
  18. I am curious whether Princess has finally added electrical outlets near the nightstands on this new ship? Most of us have things to plug in within reach.
  19. My bad, I was thinking of the first trip after the owner CCL takes possession. I am surprised that they would sail all the way to the US with no passengers aboard. Or perhaps they simply pick a cruise to be the "inaugural cruise"? New hotels often operate for weeks before their "Grand Opening".
  20. Very informative thread. Thanks so much for your time and effort on our behalf. So glad you've had an enjoyable cruise!
  21. I've had all good experiences with EZ Air. For domestic flights the prices are slightly higher than non-refundable tickets but cheaper than refundable. On one of my upcoming cruises, EZ Air is $25 pp R/T more than if I booked non-refundable on my own (Maui-Seattle). On my last cruise we save $hundreds pp on Premium Economy to London with United/Virgin.
  22. Since ships like these are not built in the U.S., inaugural cruises will never happen here.
  23. Yikes! Last year "Canada Day" was cancelled in many cities, including Saguenay, to protest the previous treatment of indigenous people. There may not be a celebration after all. Thousands gather in Montreal on Canada Day to 'acknowledge genocide of Indigenous people' (yahoo.com)
  24. Can we expect any kind of festivities to be going on to commemorate Canada Day on July 1st while we are in port at Saguenay? Perhaps something like our U.S. 4th of July celebration? Fireworks maybe? We hope to take the Hop On/ Hop Off tour but have no other plans. TIA!
