First time Carnival cruiser on Sensation

Hi, Az_Redneck's wife here.. I have a bunch of questions I need to ask you more experienced folks, so please bear with me..

My husband does not swim but will sit in the hot tub. Are there things that will keep him busy while I enjoy the water and the sun? Can you wear capri pant sets in the dining room except for on the formal night?

Can jeans be worn with a nice shirt?

Has anyone eaten at the buffet? What was your experience?

What is there to do in Nassau? Anyone ever swim with the Dolphins? How much does it cost? Can't find a price anywhere.

My husband is a diabetic is there a place on board that he can grab a quick snack during the day so he does not have low blood sugar?

Restrooms on land. Does anyone know if they are clean and easy to get to?:(

Thanks for any responses

Plenty of places for him to get snacks, dont fret about food availability. Guess he doesn't drink with the diabetes so maybe the casino or bingo or first run movies in the room or art auctions, etc.

Dolphin swim did years ago, so not sure of the price, do google search dolphin/nassau.

Depends on what he likes to do... there is plenty to do. Gambling, different games during the day that are fun to watch, bingo, gym, etc. Shouldn't have a problem with getting bored!!

Can jeans be worn with a nice shirt?

Eh, there is no rule against it... but it is a more formal atmosphere and most people will be dressed appropriately/accordingly. But you will see some wearing jeans.

Has anyone eaten at the buffet? What was your experience?

No, nobody has ever eaten at the buffet :p Sorry, couldn't resist :D The buffet is fine... they change the theme each day, and always have a great selection.

All I've done is gone to Senor Frogs, so I can't help you there. I believe the dolphin encounter is like $110?? And the dolphin discovery where you swim with them is more.

There is the deli, the pizza bar (24 hr), depending on the hour the grill, room service (24 hr), depending on the ship there will be other places as well... some ships have fish and chips, sushi, etc.

Restrooms on land. Does anyone know if they are clean and easy to get to?:(

Restrooms on land where?? Really depends on where you are talking about...

Buffet food is decent with a good amount of choices. There is also room service. There are also juice machines that should be available 24/7 if he needs a quick sugar fix. There is plenty to do besides swimming on a cruise. There are shows every night, pool games to watch during the days, seminars and games during the days, it is meal time every 90 minutes lol and of course the casino. As far as dining room clothes, no jeans or shorts in the main dining room except the 1st night. The food quality at the buffet should be about the same as the dining room so you won't really miss out on much (except dancing waitresses and some of those east european chicks are hot!!) by eating at the buffet. A pair of dockers and a polo shirt is fine for the dining room except formal night. Don't really know anything about the dolphin swim though.

Once you are "fully deposited" you can go to the Carnival website and see the excursions available on your cruise. You will need your booking number to register and you should be able to see the prices for the various Carnival sponsored excursions.

We usually eat breakfast at the buffet and LOVE the made to order omelettes. This trip we are going casual, so we may eat more meals there too. They have trivia games and last cruise a "name that tune" game too. Just check the daily activity sheet they leave in your room to plan your days activities. If you are doing the 5 day you can count on plenty of reviews once the Sensation begins that itinerary later this month.

This is our second cruise on the Sensation and I think you will really enjoy it.

Thanks for all the replies. We sail on 6/29/06 to Nassau and Half Moon Cay. This is my husbands first cruise. He's not much of a water person, but is really excited about this. I've been on the weekend Ensenada cruise a few years back and it was terrible. Ensenada is an awful place in my opinion. So, when booking this cruise we had a choice of Nassau or Cozumel. We chose Nassau over Mexico, but then heard Cozumel is NOTHING like Ensenada. So, looks like it's Cozumel next year :p

If you want to see the island cheap, take the jitney for $1. per person. Dh and I rode around, and it really is a neat way to sight see. We also got off at the Whyndam Hotel and went thru and walked down to the public beach. Had a great time for a total of $2.00. Can't beat that!!

Do they charge for the juice on board like they do the sodas? How much is a soda card by the way? What about coffee & tea?

No. Most beverages except soft drinks and alcoholic ones, no charge.

Lido Deck:

Coffee, decaf, iced tea, hot tea, fruitpunch, a variety of juices, water - all available from self-serve machines 24 hrs. a day.

Room Service:

Juices, tea, coffee, milk, skim milk, chocolate milk, hot chocolate. (No charge, but you should tip the delivery person $1.)

Dining rooms:

Coffee, tea, milk, juices, water, hot chocolate, PLUS complimentary espresso and cappuccino!

------

Your DH should be able to find something to snack on at any hour. If on Lido Deck, the Pizzeria is open 24 hrs. a day, as well as the soft-serve ice cream and frozen yogurt machines. There's also the Deli, for really great sandwiches (reubens, etc.). ALWAYS something to eat! Oh, and room service food is available 24 hrs. a day as well.

IF...someone should happen to have some rum with them;) it's really good mixed with the fruit punch. Also the lemonade is quite good with gin.;) I always bring a thermal insulated cup so I can have a BIG cup of coffee in the morning while I wander the nearly deserted deck early in the am. Then when we're sitting by the pool I can fill it with ice and water or lemonade or punch. I take one I am not terribly attached to, so that if I over-shop I can eliminate the cup on the return trip.

OH BUNKIE thanks for the coffee mug idea! Now HOW come I had to be TOLD that?

You can also go thru Atlantis. There is a casino etc there.

There really isn't much to Nassau IMO. Although I am going to stay at Atlantis for 3 days next week-end. FREE R & R trip.

Ensenada is probably one of the crappiest places in Mexico. REst of Mexico has beautiful blue seas. Don't be afraid to do the Mexican Riveria. It's also beautiful.

My mom is on that three day Ensenda right now, however, she lives in Seal Beach and got it real cheap. That's about all the cruise is good for. A quickie cheap cruise.

You will LOVE your cruise to the Bahamas! I PROMISE

TOO bad we aren't crusing together. I would LOVE to have my husband hang out with your husband while we laid in the sun etc.

Juice is included in the price but only expect it during breakfast.

Coffee is included and available through out the day but it tastes like instant coffee, same with tea. I may be wrong but they taste instant to me.

Az---don't fret. You will have a great time, plenty to do and of course eat! eat! eat!, You can wear your bathing suit all the time if you wish.

You may get some resistance if you were to wear your bathing suit in the dining room lol but I have seen people get away with wearing shorts and a golf shirt in the dining room. The lido deck almost always has something to eat and the pizzaria is open 24 hours as well as room service.

sorry cotton didn't see your thread so......I agree with Cotton
