Does Royal need to change their CEO?

Record deposits, record bookings. The only people being chased away are some people on a message board.

Of course deposits and bookings are up.  They'd better be.  Even during covid RCG continued to add new builds latest being ICON, Ascent and Silver Nova.  That's a lot of additional capacity.  There was also a mountain of FCC's that needed to either become bookings or expire.

At present there are no water attractions and things like the Northstar or rock climbing, but the future?

Sailed on Celebrity 23 years ago and earned our elite +, but things as always change and the refined upscale got to be more and more strange to us when they began with the new ship builds and the new management. They used to have white glove service and live music in the MDR along with staff that took your TRAYS in the buffet and seated you at a table.

Now Diamond + on Royal, and fully enjoy all they offer along with the more relaxed atmosphere. You can find anything X offers on R/C cruises. You just have to look.

On one of our last X cruises they began a CHIC dress suggestion, and it was funny to see flip flops and shorts in the MDR.

We will now stick with R/C for several reasons and keep our eyes open for the things we enjoy.

My two brother-in-laws are super loyal Celebrity people.  I get casino discounts with NCL so we have travelled with them but some of the latest shenanigans they have pulled especially those awful outdoor slides on Prima have me looking elsewhere.  Royal seems like a good inbetween.  And I am getting a Grand Suite on a Voyager sailing for the same cost Celebrity Edge balcony would cost.  I will take the GS!

The problem with record bookings is that most of them are into the the future.   Deposit money is nice but the meaningful revenue isn't realized until the cruise sails.  All those record booking trends will be meaningless if there is a real financial crisis in 2024 and guests walk away from their deposits.  That scenario would screw the cruise lines pretty badly.

Some analysts suggest it could take in excess of 10 years of record bookings to clear the debt accumulated during the forced shutdown.    The cutbacks and belt tightening are going to be around for a few years.  I think Fain new this to be true and didn't want to live it so he went out on a high.
