Captain Michael Posted August 28, 2023 #1 Share Posted August 28, 2023 Will be in nassau for one day sept 11, from 12 to 6 approx time. 2 adults. Seems hard to find anything where the reviews are very convincing. Are we better off staying on the ship or is there a resort or excursion that s worth the time, money and hassles of port nassau? Went to Melia years back and junkanoo last visit. Melia was fine back then, junk was not too great at all. Last time, it seemed we had to go thru a lineup of aggressive sharks tour operators getting off the ship, is that still the case? I appreciate your comments if you ve been there this year. ymncruise Posted August 28, 2023 #2 Share Posted August 28, 2023 If the weather is nice, I’d probably check out the new dock area and then get back on the ship.
blue_water Posted August 29, 2023 #3 Share Posted August 29, 2023 Melia is still closed and soon to be imploded… While staying on the island we and 3 other couples enjoyed this tour -
Rare moposh Posted September 11, 2023 #4 Share Posted September 11, 2023 I'd stay on the ship.
Rare VintageCheap Posted November 9, 2023 #5 Share Posted November 9, 2023 The former British Colonial Hilton now just British Colonial has been updated and is due for soft open 12/12/23. It is right by the cruise dock, and had lovely grounds, food and there were day passes. Oceanfront Nassau Bahamas Hotel near Cruiseport | British Colonial Hotel Atlantis has various passes and good reviews. Next to the British Colonial is a new development with day passes. For first timers to Nassau, if not the adventurous types, you would want to at least explore the port area and that part of town. With succeeding port calls Nassau is a great port in which to enjoy the ship, although many do that so the ship may not be as quiet as in other ports… The closest beach option, Junkanoo, is a bit crowded with Senor Frog’s, Margaritaville, and British Colonial catering to day visitors, but definitely serves a purpose, especially for families looking for a convenient 🏖️ Edited November 16, 2023 by blue_water
Rare VintageCheap Posted November 18, 2023 #7 Share Posted November 18, 2023 The British Colonial says they should start having day passes in January.
