Can you upgrade your cabin right before your cruise or the day or embarkation?

We didn't expect it then and definitely don't expect it now.  But one can dream!

My experience of receiving an upgrade day of embarkation is recent - less than a year ago for the most recent ones (plural). They were on N Amsterdam (Oct '22) declined, K'Dam (Dec '22) accepted and N Statendam (Feb '22) declined. Eurodam (April/May '23) accepted an upgrade 2 days prior to sailing.

I will continue to ask, sign or no sign posted. And I will continue to call to inquire prior to sailing whether or not HAL has reached out to me with an offer. 🤭
