NCL flights - assigned before or after final payemnt?

We have a late January cruise with NCL and have booked with NCL air.

 

Are the flights typically only assigned after final payment ?  Starting to look at what options might be available and a little concerned on what we might get from NCL....

 

Edit: Related question - can I have the air portion of our cruise removed and do our own air before final payment?

Deadline for submitting deviation requests is 110 days (used to be 75, it may still be but I've seen 110 reported recently).  Final payment is 120 days, and they can't book your flights before the deadline for deviation requests so it seems logical that the flights won't be booked before FP.

Yes, you can remove the flights up to final payment, after which they may be subject to the cancellation fee table.

We have until the end of the end of the month - so some time to work out our options.

You will not get your fight info until after final payment, usually 30-45 days before your trip date. If you find flights on your own that you're happy with for either the same price or just slightly higher than what NCL is charging you, just call NCL and cancel the flights through them. No changes can be made after final payment.
