Ft Lauderdale Nightlife?

We are going to be going out of Ft Lauderdale in January and are currently looking for hotels. We are going to be in town for a few days before the cruise leaves. We'd like to find a place with fun nightlife within close walking distance. Bars, resturants, etc. Something like bayside in Miami would be ideal(we don't want to actually stay in Miami). So is there anything matching that close to Port Everglades port?

The Seminole Hard Rock Casino in Hollywood is NOT near the pier but is an impressive entertainment complex including Daer Nightclub. It's home to the famed guitar shaped hotel building. Closer to the port, the Las Olas area along the Intracoastal Waterway has hotels and lots of bars and restaurants.Everywhere will be expensive in January.

I second @FOPMan's recommendation.  Las Olas is downtown Fort Lauderdale with lots of restaurants, bars, galleries and excellent people watching.  The Riverside is on the New River and has its own water taxi stop which is a must do since you are spending a couple of days before your cruise.  It is a combination of a narrated sightseeing tour and hop on/hop off transportation (see www.watertaxi.com).  The Riverside is also on the free LauderGO trolley route to the beach (https://www.visitlauderdale.com/listing/laudergo-community-shuttle/18459/).  While checking out that website, take a few minutes to look at all the other available tourist information (transportation, restaurants, attractions, etc.).

I have another suggestion that's worked very well for myself in the past.

Hotwire Ft. Lauderdale Beach Area, 4-stars. I've done this for the last 20 years.

I get a hotel that exceeds my expectations every time. Other than the Ritz Carlton I've stayed in them all some many times.

Your right there close to Las Olas The W, The Westin, The Hilton, Courtyard Marriott(best location on Las Olas Beach). The old Sheraton Ft. Lauderdale Beach is also a favorite.

It's now a B Resort Ft. Lauderdale Beach. It's nice down there too and genuinely on the beach.

Hotwire has never failed me. Great price and Awesome Hotels. Every time.

Try it, you can't lose. I stay a week in Ft. Lauderdale pre-cruise A WEEK couldn't do that without Hotwire. Good luck and have a great time on your vacation.
