Thick jacket required?

I'm going on MS Maud to Norway and Lofoten Islands in October.  Hurtigruten issue windproof/waterproof jackets. Will this suffice or should I take my own thick windproof/waterproof jacket?

Hard to say... but likely yes you should have a backup... 

The jacket is fairly light, not at all like a heavy lined/padded/insulated winter jacket.

 

The quality or fabric also varies, my wife's was very effective as a windbreaker, mine not so much.

Don't know if this is the same outerwear jacket that they provide on Expedition ships, but if it is, it is just wind and waterproof - no warmth at all.

 

We were in 0C temps and this jacket would not have been enough on its own.

Thanks for your prompt replies! I'll take the thick waterproof/windproof jacket I bought in Norway in June!
