3Shelaghs Posted October 11, 2023 #1 Share Posted October 11, 2023 With world climate, and protests re Middle East, any thoughts if cancellation/travel/medical insurance will be negated if cruise cancelled due to violence or war, or injuries received in port from protesters? Thoughts??
Rare broberts Posted October 11, 2023 #2 Share Posted October 11, 2023 Any travel insurance plan I've seen specifically excludes acts of war, insurrection and terrorism. They also exclude coverage in government no go areas. Participation in criminal activity is also a reason to deny coverage. I suspect that close proximity to a riot / illegal protest activity might get swept into this exclusion.
Rare mom says Posted October 11, 2023 #3 Share Posted October 11, 2023 Looks like Canada has issued an Avoid All Travel for most areas of Israel, and Avoid all Nonessential Travel for the country as a whole. This would be an exclusion for most travel Insurance policies.
Spudd Posted October 11, 2023 #4 Share Posted October 11, 2023 To clarify what "mom says" says above, if Canada issues a travel advisory to avoid travel to a destination after you bought the insurance but before you travel, that is considered a valid reason for cancellation and will be covered by insurance. If you travel there with an advisory in place, you will not be covered for anything that happens on your trip.
3Shelaghs Posted October 11, 2023 Author #5 Share Posted October 11, 2023 I see cruise lines are moving some cruises around to avoid area. Think I would still be nervous anywhere in that general area. Same with flying.
dawnvip Posted October 12, 2023 #6 Share Posted October 12, 2023 DH and I have been planning a trip to Isreal and Jordan ever since we were postponed due to COVID. Funny thing, how bombs and kidnapping makes one re-think their plans. We'll hold off again, with thoughts and prayers for everyone in the vicinity of this horrible situation, until peace breaks out once again. Rare ski ww Posted October 12, 2023 #7 Share Posted October 12, 2023 I'm glad we got to see these areas before all this happened. I'm sure it will be awhile before the cruise lines do port stops in that part of the world again.
