Catchum Posted October 27, 2023 #26 Share Posted October 27, 2023 (edited) We are THIS CLOSE to booking the Jade for next February. Do go ahead and book, if you like smaller ships at an affordable price. We love the Jade and Spirit size ships, no go carts no ques decent food and service. If you want gourmet food and extensive enrichment opportunities then NCL is not for you. If you want the mega ship activities the Jade is not for you. Honestly we have never had a bad cruise, we take the view that if we don't enjoy it it is our fault. This includes the covid cruise to South africa on the spirit where they ran out of milk (baileys in coffee works just fine) and a South sea cruise where we arrived early in every port to be met with the mortuary van (not covid pneumonia - when we got back the absence coughing through the wall kept me awake) Book, plan, enjoy, repeat. We have no use for go-karts, water slides, rock walls, etc., so not a problem. Although we've been on the Escape, Bliss, Prima, etc, even though they have those things and we just ignored them. This would be our first time on a "smaller" ship.

If it is not for you at least you have no laundry or dishes to worry about for a week or two.

Hope to make a review after returning home. We just came from lunch where the starter and entree were both burnt not overdone, burnt. It was hard to believe a waiter would actually offer it. But it is in line with the overall presentation and quality of the food in every venue. Bland is an understatement. We’ve left way too much food on the plate with no real alternatives. Specially restaurants offer pretty good food but really in line with what should be offered in the main dining venues. Customer service is woefully lacking. Very little is done in accordance with the stated instructions beginning with check in in Athens. Getting the room cleaned? Good luck if if is done by time for the evening meal. While not all staff are unfriendly, most are not engaging at all. Again, this cruise line is the favorite of many and more power to them. We do not expect the luxury experience. But to include this to upper scale lines is a stretch If the food is not to your liking, send it back. Yes, cruise ship food is mass produced and designed for the masses. Which is good for folks like us who cant stomach (literally) anything spicy. And my doctors are all happy if it isn't overly salty. Personally, we cruise NCL and Royal 6-7 times a year and don't find the food to be "bad". wrt room cleaning, the promise time, if you vacate the room, is to have them cleaned by dinner time. Not before. That is common on most cruise lines now.
