Wow, you went outside to the Horn.  The Jupiter sailings went from Ushuaia through the Beagle Channel, completely around the Horn then off to the Falklands.  Like Deec said, we would consider doing this cruise in the future.  We wished we had more time in Patagonia.  Great job.  Have a safe trip home.

We came back to our stateroom to find an “official” certificate.

We have the post extension but I just asked guest services about your situation and the answer was “It depends.” If there are enough people, they do a bus excursion to see the highlights of Buenos Aries before going to the airport. As of yet, nothing has been confirmed for the Polaris.

Thank you very much for going out of your way to help us.  All of the heads up and what to expect are very valuable to our Polaris sailing.  We are currently experiencing the big swell.  We visit the hanger today, super excited that we will get to play with the toys soon.

Enjoy your post cruise, have a safe and unadventurous flight home.

Like so many of the others we have enjoyed your trip almost as much as you have. If you ever come over to the Desert east of San Diego (Tucson area) give us a call in Sun City Oro Valley AZ. 5412610127 Russ and Jan Story ie: Traveler Story

For those wondering about not having a post-cruise extension, we arrived in Buenos Aires around 2:30. Those not staying were grouped by connecting airline and then led towards international departures.

For those with the extension, it was 45 minute ride to the city. After check-in, we were in our rooms by about 4:00 PM.

Thanks for this info. What are your plans for 10/31 and when do you head back to San Diego? via Alanta or Miami? all the way to SD or Lax then SA? Thanks again for a great trip. Russ of Travelerstory.

Last night we walked around the riverfront district where the hotel is located. They have converted the old dock area, turning the brick warehouses into luxury apartments and a college. The cranes remain as decorations.

Today it’s raining so we will probably just hang out until the bus leaves at 4:45 PM. We fly out tonight to Houston > SD.

Thanks so much for posting this! Great photos and information-- very helpful. We live in San Diego too (La Mesa), and we're going on the same cruise next March, though from the other direction, from Buenos Aires to Santiago. This is my first post on this site.

Thank you for your report, we are currently investigating a Chilean fjord/Patagonia expedition cruise. It seems that the ‘toys’ are not used as much as a normal expedition cruise? Generally I would have thought they would be used daily/twice daily (except for actual port days), were you disappointed on the number of opportunities?

Thank you!

Not sure what your definition of “normal expedition” is. The toys were deployed on the days we were anchored all day at 3 glaciers and at one port day (Puerto Chacabuco). The toy excursions were scheduled all day long so I’m not sure what you mean by “twice daily.”  We were able to take two SOB and two Zodiacs excursions including a landing to see one of the glaciers (we had no interest in sub or kayaks). We found this more than adequate. Basically the toys were used whenever possible. This is a scenic cruise and the scenery was incredible. The only real “at sea” day was the 2nd day out of Valparaiso. Every other day was a port call, anchoring at glacier, fjord cruising, and rounding the horn. Every day was filled with spectacular views and wildlife sightings. This was definitely a bucket list cruise. We’ve never been on any itinerary quite like it and throughly enjoyed it.

Thank you so much for clarifying, we have done 3 expedition cruises to the Arctic and Antarctica and they would normally have two zodiacs rides or landings per day (morning and afternoon), so was just trying to clarify how much opportunity there was to go on the zodiacs (and the kayaking opportunities) each day and if they were in different areas each time.

The fact they are out all day while in the glaciers is a good thing and it appears everyone has an opportunity to enjoy.

Thanks again for your response and I really appreciate the photos!

Thank you for your wonderful pictures and descriptions.  We will be taking this cruise in March, but in reverse order, and are very excited.

We're also doing this on Octantis, starting in Buenos Aires on March 10. Are you on same cruise?

Thank you -- I wanted to do Patagonia next year and you have convinced us to do a cruise. I plan to do pre and post on my own and am not sure exactly where we will go but we may try to go to one of the parks and stay for a couple of days. to experience more of patagonia.  I also want to do Isauzu falls and atacama as well. If any one has any tours they did would appreciate knowing about them
