Port Everglades car rental

We are driving down to spend a few days in the keys after our cruise that disembarks at Port Everglades.  Have a car reserved at the terminal through Avis.  Can anyone tell me if the rental cars are right there or if we need to shuttle to the location?   If a shuttle is involved, is it possible for my husband to go grab the rental car and circle back and pick up the rest of the family and the luggage (trying to make things as easy as possible when traveling with a large group and their suitcases!)

The Avis lot is not at the Terminal, none of the Port rental car agencies have lots or offices at the Port...there are several near entrances. Avis is near the 24th Street entrance, and according to their website, they have a shuttle. We always call and confirm shuttles in this type of situation.
