Solo Travelers?

~~~ Something I never imagined I would do; booking a solo cruise on Regent. The Love of my Life, my sweet Jim, passed in June (32 years together.)

 

I went ahead and booked myself on the Explorer in May of 2024. For anyone who has traveled solo, ... what do you think? Were you comfortable?

You will have a wonderful time. The Social Hostess will get people together for drinks before dinner and you will meet a lot of people. I've never heard a single complaint about the experience.

To your questions, I ran away to sea in June on the Voyager, leaving the spouse behind. I had so much fun, especially with my other solo travelers. The social hostess was off the ship for personal reasons, so the assistant cruise director took her place. There was always one or two members of the entertainment team joining us for dinner. The crew takes very good care of you.

 

My advice is don't be shy. You might not hit it off with all the other solo travelers, but you will most likely make a friend or two right away. I had so much fun I'm planning to join one of the other solos again on the Grandeur in Feb '25, sans spouse.

I travel solo now as DH will no longer travel. Regent is THE BEST at solo travel! Every night there was a pre-dinner solo cocktail hour on my Mariner cruise last November. Afterwards, folks without dinner plans could organize a group dinner together. Yes, we had lots of crew and entertainers join our group. So Much Fun!

If you are a trivia player,  show up on the first day and join others!  This will gave you another way to meet a group of folks.

Don't forget to sign up on the Roll Call. It is a great way to meet others prior to the cruise.
