Viking Lifeboats

Looking for info on whether the lifeboats on Viking obstruct the views for any of the cabins? We were thinking to do Deck 5 or higher to avoid the lifeboats, but just looking at images of the ship (Viking Sea) it looks like they are only in the midship Deck 4. If you do a Deck 3 or 4 very forward or aft, is there any obstruction to the view? Thanks in advance!

We were directly above the boats on Dk 4 and no obstructions.

Going by the deck plans they are outside fhe atrium windows on deck 3- and above your head when walking on the promenade- deck 2.

Correct, there are no cabins alongside the lifeboats, only the atrium windows. The lifeboats are on telescoping davits and are largely retracted into the hull when underway, so they don't even obscure the view down from above.

If your cabin is near them on deck 3 o4 you occasionally night hear them being launched.  Time to get up anyway!  Same thing with the anchor way forward on deck 3 not sure about 4.

We have only booked deck 3 and we typically get as mid-ship as possible.  We have been above the lifeboats often and never experienced any obstruction of view.

Now, let me clarify - view directly out to the horizon no obstruction.  If you are right above and want to look down to the side of the ship and the water line, you will have an obstruction.

With this in mind you might miss seeing the goings on of the forklifts in ports as they are loading supplies, or passengers returning from their excursions that might be immediately below you.

Thanks Heidi - do you remember what your stateroom number was? Am I correct the lifeboats are only in midship? So possibly an obstruction for Deck 3 midship?

We were in 4058. Since all Viking cabins are balconies, they have no cabins on Dk 3 midships. Inboard of the lifeboats is the Atrium.

Same on Dk 4, in 4000 we heard the anchor ops start at 04:00 as we prepared for the Suez transit.

We've had 4079 (onboard almost 5 weeks). 4073 (twice, total 4 weeks) 4070 (for 3 weeks), all above the lifeboats AND very close to the elevators!  All are very quiet rooms.

On our first Viking cruise we were allocated 4073 and enjoyed it so much that we've chosen to be in that location almost every time.  Had to move up to Deck 5 when we cruised in July this year, but there was honestly no benefit - and for our next cruise, in 48 days time (who's counting?) we're right next to the elevators again.
