e&mcruise Posted November 9, 2023 #1 Share Posted November 9, 2023 Hi Cunarders, Can any experienced Cunard Cruisers in Australian waters please advise: If the onboard Cunard app for things like dinner reservations etc is on a wi-fi network that is presumably free to all Guests (those with or without internet packages/minutes) can this also be used for something like FaceTime Audio on an iPhone to connect with a missing husband or a delayed wife onboard? Hope this makes some sort of sense. Thanks in advance. 🙂
TheOldBear Posted November 9, 2023 #2 Share Posted November 9, 2023 Apps like FaceTime are not peer to peer - they need to connect to one of Apple's iCloud servers to at least start the call.
Winifred 22 Posted November 9, 2023 #3 Share Posted November 9, 2023 You cannot use the free WiFi for anything but the Cunard webpages, (it’s not an app) If you want FaceTime you will need to purchase WiFi or use your own when in port.
Rare MrsPeel55 Posted November 10, 2023 #4 Share Posted November 10, 2023 as Winnifred said, you need WiFi We have iPhones, my daughter got the WiFi premium package, we have free roaming in Europe and I am not too keen on social media these days, so I would talk to people online on port days. One night my daughter took me to our cabin then went to the Commodore and listen to a filk duo.... it was 02:30 m and I woke up, she wasn't there...I sent 4 texts and was getting anxious when I saw the text were not delivered... (I'm on a transit wheelchair, my daughter pushes, I couldn't walk to find her) so most definitely will get wifi pack for our next cruise!!!
