Rare Fletcher Posted November 10, 2023 #1 Share Posted November 10, 2023 I was recently aboard Silver Spirit which called at Antalya and was pleased to see an old friend in the bay . . . now called Blue Sapphire. 2
lincslady Posted November 10, 2023 #2 Share Posted November 10, 2023 Nice to see her again; we were very fond of her and the lovely staff on board, especially latterly when they started including the drinks! Very civilised.
Kenmure Posted November 10, 2023 #3 Share Posted November 10, 2023 Remember once in Malta when we were on Pearl 2 remarking that if you looked at the hull of the ship parked just beyond us it could be mistaken as belonging to Saga as the blue paintwork was exactly the same. Forward two years and it was. The Bleu de France became Sapphire, but without the casino. We wonder why!!

Tabicat Posted January 7 #5 Share Posted January 7 Used to enjoy cruising on Saga Saphire Was on Spirit of Discovery recently and many of the bar and restaurant crew used to be on the Saphire. Nice to meet up again Also some of the cabin stewards were from the Saphire And of course, Resty, the Assistant Cruise Director

That must say something about the way they are treated.😊 A cocktail waiter told me that her friends who work on the big ships can't get onto Saga ships because crew hardly ever leave. Tabicat Posted January 7 #7 Share Posted January 7 Nice that they retain so many crew members On the last cruise on Spirit of Discovery I would like to make a special mention of the dance teachers, Goran and Roanna. Brilliant dancers and very good teachers. However, many ladies cruising solo said they missed the Gentleman Hosts from the Saphire who would be around all evening as dance partners
JMMKUK Posted January 7 #8 Share Posted January 7 I heard they are bringing them back. I'm pretty certain one lady brought one with her on our last Christmas cruise. 🤣

SAGA's package for employees is impressive. It allows couples to work on the same ship, makes provision for children's schooling and care back home, looks after elderly relatives and lost more. This company have very impressive ethical people-care credentials and that's why they have such a loyal staff.
JMMKUK Posted January 8 #10 Share Posted January 8 I knew they were good, but not that good. No wonder there are lots of eager Filipinos waiting for a vacancy. One Butler we had was previously on Silversea. Two years on & he's still with Saga.
