Where to stay pre-cruise in Athens

A group of eight of us are coming into Athens on a Thursday afternoon. Want to spend the rest of the day along with Friday sightseeing in Athens. We board our ship on Saturday. Any suggestions for a good location of a VRBO to stay in? Something convenient for restaurants and sites? Thanks in advance.

Were you able to find a good pre-cruise place?  Just curious as I'm also looking for one in Mid March.

I've been looking at some videos from YouTuber Greece Explained. He talks about hotels and stuff but also mentions the areas you probably want to stay in. I don't know how the vacation rental market is in Athens, but this would at least be a good start.

 

Personally I'm looking for a hotel near Monastiraki Square since it's a short walk to restaurants, should have some nice rooftop bars, and it's not far from the Parthenon

Look in the Plaka or Koukaki neighborhoods.  Koukaki is just by the Acropolis Museum.
