Never used train but have taken Aerobus from BCN (and return) to Placa Catalunya then walked to hotel.  Used Metro a lot in Barcelona and never had any problems.

https://aerobusbarcelona.es/?lang=en

I looked at the Aerobus, but I think we would need to take it to Universitat and then still take the metro to Paral-lel station.  Is that better than taking the train to Passeig di Gracia and then the metro?

Or should I just eat the cost of convenience and take a taxi...

It seems like this would be a lot cheaper than taking a taxi, I am just worried about logistics such as hauling luggage on the metro and avoiding pickpockets.

Hello:

It can really save you a lot of money if you use the rodalies (suburban) and the metro from the airport. The two "problems" you are going to have are arriving in a new city and having to get used to its transportation as well as a longer travel time. Nothing else.

About pickpockets....they are pickpockets, not thieves. Check your luggage, don't lose sight of it and don't have anything valuable that can be easily taken from your pockets or bags. Make it difficult.

The problem is not the insecurity of being robbed but of having something taken from you carelessly.

Aerobus+metro is more expensive than Rodalies (suburban) +metro. Time is quite similar.

To go to Paral.lel station do not get off at P.Gracia but just in Sants station. Take there line 3.

About fares for transport

Option 1, single ticket for suburban + single ticket for metro

Suburban: 4,10 euro  (Airport is in Zone 4)

Metro: 2,55 (single ticket)

total: 6,65 euro

Option 2, single ticket for metro to airport

You MUST use line 9 of metro instead of suburban. It takes 15 minutes more. Later, you change to line 3

total: 5,50

Option 3, 10 tickets Rodalies for airport

It cost 41,85 euro (for 10 tickets) and you can use all Rodalies (up to airport included) and metro for 10 times. Multiple travellers are accepted

If you are only two people it doesn't worth. If you are more than two people, it worth

Option 4, Aerobus + metro

You may add 2,55 euro to aerobus tickets

There are "Taxi stand" in Barcelona cruise pier.

This means taxi can go there and just stand in a queue. For a user it is easier to go there and grab one taxi. As user you must grab first taxi in the queue always.

As you can see in the image, there are taxi stands in front of Terminals A, B, C and D

Last time I was in Barcelona cruise port I waited over two hours in the taxi queue.  Is this normal?

Hello

Absolutely it is not.

In which terminal were you?

At what time on the day?

I don't recall which terminal we were in but it was around 9 in the morning along with two other ships.

Hello:

At the taxi rank there is no "obligation" for taxis to be waiting. They are simply places where taxis can stop and it is a fixed pick-up point. In places where there is a lot of demand for taxis, it is more convenient for everyone to go to a taxi rank.

Taxi drivers own their own business and as "entrepreneurs" they decide whether they prefer to be waiting at taxi stops or driving around the city. They will go where they believe there is more demand.

At a train station or airport you will always see taxis because trains or planes are constantly arriving. They know that sooner or later they will have clients. At the port they know that the ships arrive in the morning. Quite a few will come until a certain time. At nine o'clock it will be difficult for any taxi driver to risk driving empty for several kilometers so that... there may not be anyone who wants a taxi and they will have to turn back.

Therefore, if there are no taxis, you do not have to wait for them to arrive. You simply have to call any taxi company in Barcelona and they will send you the closest one (booking by taxi has a small additional cost, but really little compared to the total cost). Years ago they consulted by radio which one was available. Nowadays a computer will send the request to the nearest taxi and you will receive it in a very short time.

It is even possible that there were taxis waiting at other stops in the port (there are several, one in front of each terminal). If called, go to one of those stops to pick you up.

Had two bad taxis today. Wanted to go from the terminal to Sagrada Família. First taxi agreed to go there and then while driving through the port claimed he only operated in the port and would drop us by the port bus stops. He had a 9.50 surcharge on the meter and wanted the 17.50 it was showing for that short trip. The second taxi we hailed from there turned the meter off when we got in and wanted 35 to go the cathedral. The total trip should be around 23 so be careful. We used buses for the rest of the day, they take Apple Pay so it's very easy.

It is a pity they do not give a good service.

Next time call police. It is enough to dial 092 from any phone. Taxi driver knows that if police proves he doesn't want to drive your query he would be fined

Best side... you noticed you could use buses (and underground). It is easy and... cheaper.

Hello

I know that this has been discussed before, but any recent Barcelona Cruise Terminal disembarks that had non-Schengen flights same day?

I am trying to make a 11:15am to US flight out of BCN and wondering how risky that flight time really is. I plan to walk off with the earliest group possible and pre-book transportation (if necessary). Cruise line itinerary shows ship arriving at 5am, but know that nobody will be off the ship anywhere near that time.

Thank you

Hello.

Barcelona has five terminals all of them lined. For a passenger it is absolutely the same where you get off but it could be fine for a taxi driver.

As soon as ship is stopped in Terminal, check your mobile to know in which Terminal you are. Northern one (and nearest to the city centre) is Terminal A, Southern one and nearest to the parking is Terminal E (it is enough to check it at google maps)

As soon as you get off the ship you should have there a taxi stand (one in each terminal).

Just in case there's no taxis at that hour call for one (and you will have to say to which terminal).

A taxi from Barcelona port to airport costs 45 euro. A small additional fee for the service of calling it (but it really worths!!!)

Just google "radio taxi Barcelona" but as an example

+34 93 303 3033

In case of traffic, no more than 30 minutes from the port to the airport

So early, without traffic and with a crazy driver, maybe 15

Good luck

******************************************

We will be stopping in Barcelona on our cruise next year. I do not wish to take a tour. I would like to visit the Sagrada, what would be the easiest way to get there from the port? Are taxis’ easily available at the port? Roughly how long to get there, as I would be requesting tickets beforehand? From Sagrada, is it easy to get to Las Ramblas, is it a long walk or easier to get a taxi, and again, would they be easily available from the church? From the bottom of Las Ramblas, is there much to see around the area, and is it far from the port? Neither my husband and sister in law are great walkers, so I am trying to be somewhat mindful of that, me I can walk and walk. We are all in our late 60’s, although I hate for that to stop us. Thanks very much for your help!

********************************************

Hi, I disembarked at Barcelona, Terminal A last month. It just took me 30 seconds to grab a taxi. I though there was some queue but.... they were looking foward an 8 people taxi. I was the only customer for a regular taxi so just arrived, just got in.

You can search in this thread about fares.

I took a taxi because we disembarked and had a lot of baggage.

If you do not mind to walk...

Port bus from the terminal to Barcelona WTC

600m walking to Drasssanes underground station

Line 3 and Line 4 to Sagrada Familia station. If you have moved in any other underground it will be very easy

I always think knowing and using a transport system in these cities is part of visiting them.

Hi, my partner and I will be spending 4 nights in the Gothic section before our cruise on Nov. 3. I see there are taxi stands along La Rambla, but as my partner is blind, I'd like to have a better plan for getting to our cruise ship. Do you think we should book a car service or roll our luggage (we'll only have one suitcase each) to the nearest taxi stand? We are staying on Carrer de Ferran about half a block from La Rambla. Thanks!

Hello Podie

you can ask for a taxi to your hotel. Never mind distance to the taxi stand.

Ask frontdesk people to call for a taxi and it is enough. Quite fast to the cruise terminal

Thank you. We are in an apartment rental building so I'm not sure we will have a front desk person to ask.

Call to any "radio taxi". There are different ones, all of them are enough for travelling. Just say exact address and they will say you in how much time you will have your taxi (it could be in less than one minute, it could be several minutes no more).

It has an additional fee to your fare but it really deserves for you.

In this thread I posted several phone numbers to call but enough to google "radio taxi barcelona"

We arrive in Barcelona October 2 at 9:10 AM.  There are 4 in our group.  Are there plenty of taxis to accomodate 4 people with luggage (4 large, and 4 small)?  We will be taking the taxi to H10 Catalunya Plaza.  Would that fall in the 30-35 euros price range?  Thank you so much for your help!

Hi Sharon.

I grabbed a taxi for four people in Barcelona last month.

I was really worried about all luggage but I didn't had any problem

First trip in taxi, it was a taxi for disabled people. This is, It was a van where in the trunk they have enabled an area to go in a wheelchair without having to get out of it.

Full of space

Last day, I asked a taxi driver if all our luggage fit in his taxi (I pointed all the baggages). He said no problem. Enough space too.

There aren't extra fees for over baggage

Airport to port is a fixed fee too

Thanks for all the great information here!  Does anyone have any leads for a shuttle for groups? We will have 12 people traveling together including younger kids and some seniors, and it may be easier to book a bus type of service to take us all instead of separate taxis.  We will be looking for BCN to Royal Passeig.

Thank you!

What's "Royal passeig" (passeig means boulevard in Catalan but there's not any Passeig Reial or so).

For 12 people it is easier and faster 2-3 taxis.

I say 2 because it would be possible to find an 8 people taxi. There are someones and they can charge a bit more than regular fare but obviously it worths.

In any case.... the easiest.... three taxis in the taxi stand through destination.

Sorry I missed a word - Hotel Royal Passeig de Garcia!

Thank you very much for responding!

The easiest.... three taxis in the stand. Give them hotel address and in less than 30 minutes you are together in front of the hotel. Quite easier than calling to any bus. People in Europe do not use transfers. Just a taxi.

But... if you wanna go all of you together

Take the inner airport shuttle from Terminal 1 to Terminal 2 (almost all intercontinental flights arrive to Terminal 1). It is free

Shuttle bus finishes here

take the corridor with windows over the cars

just some metres

https://www.google.com/maps/@41.3042536,2.0737285,93m/data=!3m1!1e3?entry=ttu

There's one underground and a suburban station, both togethers

Buy 14 tickets for suburban (or a 10 tickets carnet and 4 extra ones)

It runs every 30 minutes

It takes 27 minutes to arrive to Barcelona-P Gracia station

It arrives Here

ttps://www.google.com/maps/@41.3925288,2.1647609,3a,75y,320.13h,86.77t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1se4sCZl9Tfej4F-nmJ_Q_Bw!2e0!7i16384!8i8192?coh=205409&entry=ttu

You do not have to take any other train. It is a train that starts on the airport, crosses Barcelona and go to all northern towns. Just get off in Paseo de Gracia

Your hotel is barely 250 metres ahead

Airport is the terminus, so surely you will have a seat for you

All the group will go together

there's enough space for baggage in that train

and loudspeakers are in English too (only in airport trains, in the rest of suburban trains just Catalan and Spanish, but airport trains have information in English too)

and cheaper than taxi.

Obviously you have the taxi option but if you wanna travel all together.... you have a door-to-door train

I will be traveling from BCN Airport directly to Cruise terminal. This is September 1.  Arrival is 9:00 am Sunday morning on a direct international flight from the US. Royal Caribbean Oasis departs at 6 pm.  (I know same day arrivals are risky, but with work, family, and flight schedules this was the only option.)  I have been very fortunate (so far) with timeliness of overnight TATL flights.

What is my most reliable option for getting out of airport quickly and and getting the most reliable transportation to the port?

1.) Use a car service and having someone tracking our flight and meeting us (with a sign) at the airport?

2.) Walking out to taxi stand and getting in line?

3.) Buy a transport package for the "bus service" provided by RCL?

Are there any services for purchase that offer a faster track through immigration at BCN - Something similar to global entry?

Thanks in advance.
