Pre Eng Posted January 2 Author #3 Share Posted January 2 Thankyou Hlitner for your reply, looks like we can go straight from hotel to ship, just in time for a nice glass of something and lunch.
cruiseej Posted January 2 #4 Share Posted January 2 @Pre Eng When is your cruise? For the past two years, Seabourn has been emailing passengers with an assigned boarding time, a practice which started when cruising resumed after the pandemic shutdown in order to space out the arrival of passengers. We heard a few months ago that they were going to eliminate the assigned boarding times, but I don't know if this has taken place yet for 2024 cruises. (Does anyone know?) As Hank said, even with the assigned boarding times, there has generally been no problem with individuals arriving earlier and boarding around noon, plus or minus a little depending on the port staff's speed in getting passengers off and ready for boarding new ones. Of course, if everyone shows up at 11:30 seeking to get on early, there will be quite a queue and a wait to process everyone.
Pre Eng Posted January 2 Author #5 Share Posted January 2 Cruiseej we sail in Ovation on 3rd March. If they give us a time, I think we shall risk turning up early. Thankyou for responding.

As long as people don't complain about waiting due to a queue because many turned up early. I have no issue with people turning up early otherwise. where-to-next Posted January 2 #8 Share Posted January 2 On our recent Odyssey cruise we were allocated a 1400 boarding. We arrived at the port at 1200, quite prepared to wait but were checked in straight away and advised that boarding would commence at 1230, we were then directed to a waiting area, where about 100 passengers were already waiting. We were on board by 1245 and the cabin was ready.

Sailing tomorrow on Quest and assigned a 2:20pm boarding time. In light of what other posters have said about boarding times, we will probably show up about 1pm. Based on what we saw boarding Quest in Miami back in November you should be able to walk up, present your passports, and walk on board if you arrive at 1 PM. They started boarding at 12:40 with at least 200 people seated in the lounge area. Diamonds and disabled got called first but lounge would have been cleared by 1:00 PM and all of the suites were ready. Hope your boarding goes as smoothly as ours did. We saw one poor lady sitting on the floor in tears because she didn't have her passport with her, it was so sad to see.
