AARP HAL card……10%

Since the purchaser a dollar for 90 cents, and the AARP makes money off the gift card program, I would expect that HAL is "eating" 12 - 13 cents on every dollar. The AARP isn't an altruistic organization, dedicated to paying for geezers' vacations.  Their gift card programs are a money maker for them.

HAL absorbs the discount in return for an interest free loan AND keeping all of the “breakage” (the term used for unused cards and balances left unused on partially used cards) which is probably a lot more than 10%.

Having said that it’s a great deal for those of us who “buy and use” them and keep meticulous records to make sure no balances remain.
