jglass Posted January 28 #1 Share Posted January 28 I am diabetic, and need sugar free sweeteners for my coffee, etc. When I was on the Spirit in the Med, there was only Stevia based products, which I am sensitive to. Anyone notice what they have on the Nova in the Caribbean? I want to know if I should bring my own.
Rare drron29 Posted January 28 #2 Share Posted January 28 Well on the Moon, Dawn and Muse it has been Splenda which now is Stevia. seems like it is a fleet wide policy. Al so some of the desserts contain Splenda but at least they tell you.
jglass Posted January 28 Author #3 Share Posted January 28 So, not Splenda, now it’s Stevia? Darn.
Rare drron29 Posted January 28 #4 Share Posted January 28 It is Splenda but you need Splenda Original to avoid stevia. A lot of their products now contain stevia.
Rare Host Jazzbeau Posted January 28 #5 Share Posted January 28 No Equal (aspartame)?
MuseCruiser Posted January 28 #6 Share Posted January 28 Just as one can make special requests for liquor or food prior to the cruise, couldn’t you make a pre cruise request for the sweetener you want? I think they would provide it.
Rare Dolcevita Diva Posted January 28 #7 Share Posted January 28 (edited) Finding non-sugar substitutes was a challenge on the Spirit when I sailed on her in 2022. Cannot remember specifically if the Nova had Splenda when I sailed last October, but they did have more than one option. sea bright Posted January 28 #8 Share Posted January 28 On the Nova now. They have a Stevia product, Canderel, and Splenda. The Splenda lists dextrose, maltodextrin and "Splenda sucralose" as ingredients. It's in the familiar yellow packets we get in the US and DH says its the same as we have at home. We always travel with sweetener for DH's coffee, but haven't needed it aboard the Nova.
Rare spinnaker2 Posted January 29 #9 Share Posted January 29 I just bring my own sweetener (Equal) no matter what. It doesn’t take up much room in the suitcase! Silversea used to have many more choices of sweeteners, but no more.
Rare Host Jazzbeau Posted January 29 #10 Share Posted January 29 On Whisper now. They have aspartame under the Candarel brand (red packets containing 2 small pills each). 😊
jglass Posted January 30 Author #11 Share Posted January 30 Thanks for checking this out, I guess I will bring my own just in case. I did talk to Silverseas rep today, he couldn’t guarantee they would have sucrolose, but he put in a request.
