Yet another onboard booking question

I don't recall seeing this answered before. Does anyone know whether both occupants in a cabin receive the benefits of using an onboard booking when only one occupant has an onboard booking credit? For example, my husband and I each have a $100 onboard booking credit toward an open booking. If I want to use my $100 deposit credit toward a cruise I would take with my mother (no husband along, so only two occupants in the cabin) would she also receive the onboard credit you get with an onboard booking? I was wondering if we should wait until our July Sea Princess cruise to book for Europe 2007 (I'm guessing the new Royal may fill up fast) or if we can use my onboard booking credit and we both receive the onboard credit. If she has to pay the full deposit it wouldn't bother her, we are more interested in the onboard credit.

I have a similar situation to yours. My husband and I both signed up for a future cruise in January while on the Caribbean Princess. I've just booked a cruise in September, rooming with my aunt who had no future cruise booking. My future cruise deposit was used for me and she had to put down a deposit for the cruise. She received no benefit from my husband's $100 future booking. Hope this answers your question.

Both people, sharing the same cabin, are supposed to get the same benefit. When I travel with my Mom, we only use one open booking and we both book for the same low deposit and get the same ship board credit. If you haven't gotten this, then your TA has dropped the ball somewhere.

pgeists -

Does your Aunt qualify for any onboard credit? Since you used your onboard booking for your deposit you will receive onboard credit ($25-150, depending on cabin type and length of cruise). Will your Aunt also get onboard credit since she is sharing a cabin with you? That is what I am really trying to find out.

Thanks

I know in the past people have been able to use one future cruise booking and pay the additional $100 to get the second person in the cabin the same deal. If that is still allowed, you shouldn't have a problem. Maybe one of our helpful cruise specialists can answer this one for sure. It's hard to keep up with Princess policy changes.

Also, keep an eye out for promotional booking periods when deposits are reduced. You might or might not get additional OBC's, but at least you aren't required to pay large deposits.

Sorry Lynda!

When I checked the thread there was only pgeists' reply, so I asked the additional question. By the time I hit "submit reply" my post showed up beneath your post, which wasn't there when I started typing my question to pgeist. The wonders of modern technology!

That's for sure.

My partner and I each made a future cruise deposit on the Golden last March of $100 each.

Two weeks ago we booked a vista suite on the Grand for next Feb. The captain's circle account shows each of us with a $100 cruise deposit on the Grand and only my account reflects and onboard credit of $50, the other account shows no onboard credit.

no wonder people are confused.

If you only used one FCC and the other person paid the $100 at booking time, the second person's obc will not show up until final docs are received. However, your TA should be able to send confirmation of actual obc that has been credited to each account. Very confusing, I certainly agree.

Mike, It might also just be that the famous Princess computer system does not consistently show the OBC's from the FC bookings online. Yours shows, your partners does not. Nor does mine or my husband's, but Princess and my TA can both see the credit when they log in. Go figure.

No lynda, we each used a FCC and two things confuse me

1) I thought a suite would generate more than a $50 OBC

2) the fact that my partner received no OBC even though he paid the same $100 last year that I did.

Where is a wizard when you need one? lol

Mike:confused:

Mike, A suite does not generate any more obc than an oceanview stateroom. Both would get a $50 obc for a 7-9 day cruise. 10-15 days would be $75 pp credit and 16+ days would get $125. Your TA should be able to let you know if both of you have received the credit. If you booked through Princess, they would be able to tell you by just calling them.

Thanks Lynda you have been very helpful in this matter.

What confused me so was the fact that the captain's circle account did not match what I had been told previously by the TA or Princess.

Thanks again,

Mike:)

ok, just to confuse things even further, here's what happened to me :D

Last year while in the Diamond I went to the Future Cruise Consultant onboard to book a cruise for this summer on the Star to the Baltic. I was traveling in a single cabin on the Diamond with a group of friends who had other cabins, but for the Baltic cruise I would be taking my mom with me. When the consultant did the booking, she first did it as a an open booking, then applied it immediately to the cruise she was booking for me. She explained that doing it this way if I had to cancel for some reason, the FCC would still be out there for me to apply to another cruise. She also told me she could only book the new cruise as a single, since that's the way I was traveling on this cruise, but that I could call my TA when I got home and add my mom. She also gave me a certificate (I guess that's the infamous "share the wealth" certificate I've read about here!) so that mom would get the priviledges of the FCC when I added her to the booking

When I got home I did as she instructed and called my TA to add mom. She said she would call Princess and get back to me, which she did that same day. All Princess wanted was my mom's info and the number on the certificate I got, but no additional deposit! I thought for sure she'd have to at least give them another $100, but apparently not. When I looked at my Captain's Circle account, it shows a $100 credit applied to that booking, and the Cruise Personalizer showed both of us on it. We both made final payments about 3 weeks ago and got individual pre-cruise packages, so we're definitely both on the booking.

Sooo...it looks like we were able to do only one $100 deposit, but that we will only get one on-board credit of $100. Go figure

I am going on the CB in 15 day's. We get two cabin's for our family. One for our teen's and one for us. Should I get two future cruise booking's, one for my husband and one for me? Then we will be able to book two room's on an open booking later?

Tell me if this sounds right?

My husbands pay's 100.00 for one room. I pay 100.00 to book another room. Then we each get a credit and my kids get the reduced deposit and credit later when we add them? Thanks
