main character syndrome.  People thinks life is a movie and they are the star!  The rest of us only exist to move the star’s story along.

More than that.  The woman actually thought she would be doing others a favor because they would love to hear her sing.  Just like those selling things on board.  They all justify their behavior by a belief that it's in our best interest.

I wouldn't mind buying a credit every year or every two years for balcony room 'worth up to xxx amount' and then I could just go online and book something.

I'm part of fabathletics program.  You pay $65 a month and then get a credit up to $90 monthly.  Every month they just auto bill you.  I would do the same with a cruise line.  They bill you monthly and once you hit xxx amount you have a credit to spend toward xxx amount on a cruise.  If you pull out after only 4 or 5 months, that amount turns into a credit.

Actually, I encountered a company that did just that.  They solicited military personnel through ads on Army Community Service with the same deal.  You allowed them to debit your credit card or bank account.  You could use your accrued balance to purchase a cruise through them.  Their selection of cruises were vastly over-valued.  They did not pay interest on your accrued balance.  It was such a rip off.

I never understood how ACS would allow military personnel to be taken advantage of like this scheme did.  There were some rather scathing reports on the Better Business Bureau website describing how this business took advantage of some military personnel.  ACS no longer does business with that company.

I'm going on the Encore in the middle of girl scout cookie season.  Do you think NCL would let us set up a table for a couple days and sell cookies for an hour?  talk about a captive audience.  Maybe outside to the casino area?  🙂

{lease for the love of God NO!

This does remind me of the husband or boyfriend of a lady who wanted to bring her guitar on board so she could entertain people on the Atrium Stage.  She didn't want to do it in the Karaoke lounge.  It had to be on the Atrium Stage.  I hope we dissuaded him and his SO, but from what he said, she would not go on the cruise unless she was allowed to perform in the Atrium.

I can only find this one.  Was there another?

Each troop starts at .75 per box then you can increase the amount based on various qualifications.  Cookies are sold for $6 per box

So if I just hand the young ladies $6 as a donation, does that all stay with the local troop?

So let me clear up a few things about our friend Sandy who sold us the beautiful set of Cutco knives in a stunning natural wood block.

We did ask he how in the world she was able to get said knives onboard.. She was a local who lived about an hour from the pier.

She said she was asked at the security booth inside the terminal why she is bringing them onboard and she said she needed them to cut her medicine tablets she takes daily in such a way that most inferior knives sold in the US just can not handle. The security guard said ma’am you need to be more specific. She said she then quickly finished a store brand soda can she was drinking and asked if she can demonstrate her knives for him.

She not only sliced the can in half in one fell swoop. She also used the pearling knife and carved the remaining can into what best resembled a tiny pineapple.. she told the security officer to keep the pineapple and give it to his 3 year old son 🍍🍍

She said he simply put a small piece of red tape on the closure of the knife set. Smiled at her and said please be careful. He also thanked her for the gorgeous tin pineapple souvenir and said his young son will love playing with it.

Also.. yes we paid $2300 for the knife set with a stunning natural wood block. The retail on the set was $2,449 that was the selling point for my wife.. she kept saying don’t think of it as spending $2300 we need to think of it as we are saving $149!! Also having Sandy there knowing she has been in Cutco sales for over 13 months also put me at ease.

Ok, I've got to ask: how did you pay for the knife set with the stunning natural wood block?

Cash on hand?? She was able to run your CC? You got a carbon copy receipt?? You wrote a check??

I knew this question would come up so here is how we managed to score such a good deal.
On cruises I always cary onboard (2) $500 face value series EE US savings bonds that have long since matured on 1/1/1995

we also had $550 in cash I usually keep in an ultra safe saddle brown money belt that I always wear when traveling.
Sandy happened to take a liking to my wife’s beautiful Tanzanite pendant delicately strung on a 14 ct white gold necklace that she gave to her which we bought on a carnival cruise years ago. The necklace is valued at $750 which my wife still happened to carry in her purse the certificate of authenticity that she received from tanzanite international where we were lucky enough to find at a bargain price of $695 so another $55 in saving wasn’t bad 3 years ago. So yes in total $2300 but as you can see Sandy was nice enough to accept some of the value in trade.

well, wait. what?

the security guy didn't buy a set of knives?

maybe sandy is not as good as we thought she was.

while this is a very fine and entertaining story, and marginally more believable than without this level of detail, it's still pretty far fetched. they certainly would not allow the knives through today.

"cutting medicine tablets?"

one would need a set of knives for that and not one blade? and, you know, they have purpose-built contraptions... pill splitters... for that.

She said that the security officer was more interested in the stunning natural wood block. Sandy said she could not break up the set. That is Cutco policy.

So basically you used an incredibly weird thing to bring on to a cruise to buy a different incredibly weird thing to bring on to a cruise.

3 year-old, and cut up, sharp-edged metal cans.

Nope, don’t see a problem with that!

I must admit that you certainly know how to spin a yarn!

I tip my hat to you and your very dapper and free-flowing imagination. 🥸
