Rare jam19872016 Posted March 17 Author #501 Share Posted March 17 (edited) Good morning from Colon, Panama. We are officially on the second half of the cruise, oh how these things fly by but if this were a seven day cruise, it would be the last day so there's that. We decided against the Panama on your own excursions because my mom doesn't need three hours in port. There was another excursion that included a tour as well as shopping at the largest mall in Central America, but it again came with three hours of shopping and much as she likes shopping, she doesn't have the energy for three hours of it. She had no interest in a tour through the canal. So we are going to take a peek outside and see of there is anything nearby and then wander back. Rare jam19872016 Posted March 17 Author #505 Share Posted March 17 No breakfast but I did grab a Nutella brioche from al bacio for a little snack. Just like lunch desserts, it was fantastic. Heading out now to check out Colon.
Rare jam19872016 Posted March 17 Author #506 Share Posted March 17 Not the most exciting port but she did get some shopping in. Be expected to be asked if you want a taxi constantly. Beyond that, the locals seem unfriendly and unwilling to engage in any sort of conversation. Duty free shop right at the port. Walking across the street to the large mall. Not a lot of things for tourists but a lot of shopping opportunities in the shopping mall. 5
Rare jam19872016 Posted March 17 Author #507 Share Posted March 17 Back on the ship Stuart (or Stewart, or Steward, or room attendant, or Anthony) was cleaning the room so we went around the ship for a bit getting my mom some practice on her scooter. Back in the room now and I'm off to grab my coffee to cool off. 3

Rare jam19872016 Posted March 17 Author #515 Share Posted March 17 The buffet today was really good. I wish it could be that good every day. But as much as I ate, maybe it is for the best. Very satisfying though. No bad bite on the plate and we both agreed the fish was as good as the fish offered on Cunard. Some pictures.

Truly a step above anything I've ever sailed. It also typically costs more than anything I've ever paid but I found a good bargain last year. The Alaska season this summer is very competitively priced. I've been eyeing it, it's just that darn cross country flight.

Across the country for us…it’s so worth it though.

It's quieter and the entertainment skews even older than Celebrity but the product is truly remarkable. 2

I have no concept if that is good but a similar kind of cruise on celebrity was several thousand more. I would never be able to do any of the retreat levels on Celebrity but I figured those prices looked good so why not price it. lol

For this simple inside cabin man, that's way more than I would pay but I'm sure that's better than what X charges, and it comes with a REAL balcony instead of a window claiming to be a balcony.
