Sea Break Posted March 9 #1 Share Posted March 9 (edited) I noticed the time in port on the 7 day Eastern Caribbean route (HMC, GT, San Juan, St. Thomas) has all been reduced by an hour. Any idea, besides financial, as to why? Did this one last year and looking to do it again. Last year, for example, departure out of San Juan was 11PM and now 10PM. HMC was 3PM, now 2PM. St. Thomas was 5PM, now 4PM, etc. Seems odd, as this itinerary has always been the same until now. Edited March 9 by Sea Break
Rare POA1 Posted March 9 #2 Share Posted March 9 Ships burn less fuel at the slightly lower speeds. I'm just glad we're not going back to the fuel surcharges, because fuel prices are crazy high now.

Plus the benefit of leaving early includes opening the casino and gift shops earlier for additional revenue.

While I have been known to embellish, or even make things up**, this topic was discussed on a recent earnings call. Reducing fuel consumption helps to keep the cost down because of better "milage*". ** Wait?!? POA1 makes things up and embellishes?? Behold my shocked face. 😯 * I don't know what the shippy term is for mileage. Feel free to chime in and educate me.

Homelines Posted March 10 #6 Share Posted March 10 Some of the HAL port times are ridiculous. 2pm departure from HMC! I always prefer sea days, but the reduced port times make it difficult to spend any quality time in a port.

I've barely gotten over there by 2pm! ~Nancy
